I was in #// on EFnet, the uhm, IDM channel of EFnet and I said this: Autechre, Aphex Twin, Venetian Snares, Squarepusher, and Bola are all IDM. Everyone killed each other afterwords over genres. It got really bad though. People hating on me, hating on each other over such obscure genres as "antidrumz", "glitch", "drill 'n' bass". So, after about 20 minutes of fighting amongst themselves and completely forgetting that I set off the heated debate in the first place, I cried out: "IDM IS NOTHING MORE THAN EMOTRONICA SO YOU ALL LISTEN TO EMO" Suddenly, all of the above mentioned bands are IDM again, not "antidrumz", "glitch", or "Drill 'n' bass". Things like "autechre is grey, not emotional! VENETIAN SNARES IS ANGRY, NOT DEPRESSED, SO NO EMO" and a sudden defense of mixing classical instruments with twisted drum programming arose out of the ashes. Maybe this is just a peculiarity of #//, so for my next test, the IDM Orkut community. |

| Coolness: 339600 | really nifty trick, when on the lower section, stare at the floor for bout 25 seconds, then look up at the cement walls and it'll be covered in green and pruple spots.. nifty huh?
