Masa its obvious that what I said was in response to Databoy offering to collect the money FOR ME.

Go back and read. The only other option I gave is making a donation to the site in my name.

Its not up to you to make conditions to "face you" so you can "decide" if I'm telling the truth about the bet you lost. Who kind of wierd bullshit is that anyway? Its creepy to say to the least

You give the money to Na to give to me, if he's unable to do that, then leave him the hell out of it.

A great solution to Masa's bet problem: internet transfer

All you have to do is send an interac email to hamish@videotron.ca for $20.00. It'll take 5 minutes tops. I promise I'll send you a picture of my face when I receive the money so you can "face it" for as long as you want and decide whatever bullshit you need to decide.

The whole thing will take 10 minutes and its great for everyone, you pay your debt without involving other people in your bullshit, I get my money, everyones happy!

Another proof that you're an oblivious twat. YOU will quit involving everyone in your bullshit. The only way I'll be satisfied that you weren't a bag of shit (though you are now) is if I can look in your pretty brown eyes. You said to give it to Databoy, I don't see him (or Na for that matter) offering to be an intermediary for you anywhere?

Why are you so afraid to face me? You poor, poor broke wanker

Dear Sir;
Madam,

I am a Nigerian prince, currently in exile due to political turmoil in my country, and I am in dire need of your help.

Your minor contribution of $20.00 could indeed help me fund mining operations at a site, here, in Congo, where geological surveys have shown the presence of platinum and diamonds, and I am ready to offer you 100% return on your investment following successful extraction.

I thank you warmly for your time, and your consideration, and I hope to further our business relationship and commitment.

Sincerely,

Zarawmin Gahlahk, XXVI

Mobile app. Integrate the event calendar with your android/google calendar and make the forum work like tapatalk. Most people these days don't dedicate time to sit in front of their computers to post on forums anymore, they do it from their phones and tablets when they're in transit or in the bathroom, and ravewave is absolutely atrocious to navigate on mobile/touchscreen devices.

MIDI music and an animated GIF as a background image.

I don't think the site is the problem. Maybe a mobile version wouldn't hurt, like, a mobile CSS template ... something like 4chan has and a few minor PHP/ImageMagick tricks.

Also the site is pretty damn local and has been for as long as I can remember. Toronto probably has their own version of Ravewave, etc. Maybe restructuring the site more into something like a corporate website or a blog-based site, with News, Forums, Events, Music, etc. instead of MySpace, which is essentially dead.

I know it sucks to scrap all that code that makes pretty profile pages full of MIDI music and GIF backdrops, but such is life.

Other than that, there needs to be more event promotion. I know the community got burnt, got edgy, super protective, but it's really become too much. There are better ways, I think.

I think Montreal is thawing the arts thing. Technocracy pretty much failed and it's not going super well, so I think there's a nice opportunity here.

If only there was enough time to do all of that :) There is only so much work one person can do in a day. Mobile version would be cool but mobile everything is crap and simple and the screens on most mobiles are just too small to have any amount of information on them.

Well, other alternative for the forum would be Tapatalk compatibility.
[ www.tapatalk.com ] (just close the stupid add that seems to pop up)

That way there's one common platform that's used by millions of people, and being tapatalk compatible could bring in new members as well as get discussions going!

I wouldn't say the rave scene is dying, it will never die. As a matter of fact, the situation is now returning back to the 'pre-rave' era (80s) for several scenes, such as the one I'm coming from. What do we call 'cycles' are moving along tendencies. Just like fashion, it's always moving. New profiles are arriving and some are leaving.

What is probably dying here is this network of people as Facebook seems more popular than ever for managing communities and everything centered on events. In other words, Facebook is exactly like the biggest rave forum ever created, an ultimate advanced form of [ rave.ca ]

The more you get older, the less you are on Facebook. That could be a nice clientele to target for [ rave.ca ] But I don't think it would work out unless a revolution happens.

End: Save [ rave.ca ] elsewhere.

What's worth mentioning is that [ rave.ca ] has advantages over Facebook. It's not here to hawk your personal info to advertisers. That camp counselor job interview lady won't snoop on it looking for conclusions to jump to based on who you know and where you go and what you looked at. In fact the whole basis of it is pro-privacy because let's face it, there's a huge witch hunt against - heaven forbid - enjoying yourself at someone's loft.

Facebook has advantages over a forum and the forum has advantages over Facebook, but it doesn't change the fact that everyone on the forums are leaving forums for facebook are migrating on facebook.

ps: Facebook is a pain in the ass.
