I'm looking for underground venues that have an industrial look. Our goal is to find a place where we could do a rave just like in the old days when raves were illegal. We're aiming for something similar to this, which feels creepy and underground :

It's been almost 2 months that I'm searching, I don't know if you can help me out with that. I can even take suggestions that are not matching my criterias.

once upon a time, ravers and party kids wandered the city looking for spots both illegal and legal...they carried a note pad and bunch of beers and something to smoke. They would pick areas of the city to scour in groups of two, three and four...and at the end of the day they would meet up and discuss what they had seen and found...

if you haven't already done this you have no right to pooch spots on the internet...

just my thoughts...
I'm feeling surly right now..

It's already done and I am still searching this way (without beers). Do you have anything to recommend?

My sentiment exactly.
And I'll be rude, but...

No.
Dunno who "you" or "we" are, but.. If you're serious about throwing an event (sure seems like it'd be your first, too), I'd suggest going to a few ones, first; make your own goddamn research; talk to and perhaps associate with other promoters, get some experience before.

I say this for your sake. Or you'll end up on your ass like so many aspiring promoters.

The scene is stretched enough as it is, imho. Doesn't mean you can't succeed and make a name for yourself (lulz), but you'll have to show more initiative than that.

This forum is for old farts and trolls. Welcome, though.

My last event was sold out 2 days before the actual event. 350 people.

I am already collaborating with Psylo Productions (Triskel, Shamanik), Transition (Black Light, Quebec City) and probably more to come in the future.

I come here to ask for suggestions, you don't seem to have any, all you care about is judging. So do a favor for me and the citizens of Montreal, please go work at Commission Charboneau and get laid with Sonia LeBel.
Actually you don't need to wonder why your scene is so stretched just by looking at your message, you demonstrate it very well. The question is short and simple.

One would be dumb moron to not use all the resources available. I'm using all the ways available, I'm asking everyone, all my contacts and searching everywhere. May you apologize me in advance for not working in the hardest and stupidest way possible just like these goddamn wannabe promoters that you are yourself describing in your message.

My collaborators (Psylo and Transitions) are also running out of ideas. It's difficult to find something that closes after 3 am in what we've found. This is the problem. We already went out twice on the road searching for spots available and none could be found. We think it would end up in some school gyms because of the facilities that are more suitable.

It's not as easy as getting out of your house and throw a party at the first building you look at.

Hehehe, look who got butthurt real quick.

Glossing over the misguided insults, seems you somehow got the semi-constructive criticism i sent your way. You came back and gave a LITTLE bit more background to your original post (which arguably sounded pretty bait).

(I know a few people who were invited, but none of my contacts appear to have gone to your old-skool trance party on Crescent street. Just felt I needed to point this out )

Raves are STILL illegal. Cops tolerate a few crews and venues, and some manage to pull off very successful renegade events. You wanna pull an all-nighter? Plenty of venues are available. One only needs to check out the [ rave.ca ] calendar or all-nighters on facebook. Y'know, social networking.

I stand by my OP. You post a few lines asking for locations without any background to what you wanna do, on a forum mostly used by trolls. What the fuck did you expect? Promoters to just say: HEY LOOK, HERE'S THIS PLACE I FOUND AND WANT TO EXPLOIT, BY ALL MEANS, USE IT?

...
For the record, I was raving when "old school trance" was still new. You're not the first promoter I've seen looking for an easy way out. Do the legwork. Contact promoters directly. But for fucks sake, DON'T BE BAIT; can't you see how your OP made it look like you're a police officer wanting hints on current rave spots?

Or, maybe, last advice: stay on Crescent, seems it's working out great for you. Why change a winning combo?

My humble 2 cents. Guess they amount to 0 with the new rounding rules, but... Heh.

I am, yes, among many other things; dick, brain, pair of lungs, eyes, ears, testicles, etc..

To be quite honest, I can't think of any legal venues that have this "industrial" look he wants anyway. None that can still be rented anyway, though I'm hearing words that some venues could be persuaded to open their doors again, dunno how much stock to put in that though.

Also have a few illegal dream spots where I'd be curious of throwing parties (or rather, help throw), but heh. Obviously I'll share them right now with a guy who barges in here out of nowhere asking for locations without so much as a "please" or "thank you", instead of any of those awesome crews I know who contribute to our scene (to a fault) rather than consume.

Yup. I'm an asshole.

start by making a list of every place that can conceivably hold a rave (bingo hall, bowling alley, community center etc) then seek those places out in the city and try to meet the owner, no easy task to be sure, but this is how it is done...

So today I went to check out the place with the owner.

The owner to me: "I think I was wrong on the phone... You can't do anything here after 3 am".

So why you didn't tell it in the first place bitch?!

Impossible to find something that doesn't close at 3 am. The only venue available is on Iberville.

see was that so hard???

No, no, it took us only 3 months to find it.

Yeah it's not very easy to find place like that BUT...

suggestion of mine: INCINERATEUR ROSEMONT, 1295 Des Carrieres (metro Rosemont). The "Nye 6tem Coalition : Tekno Nouvel An" happen there. 2 big industrial style rooms. Maybe you can contact the promoters to have the contact info of the owner and ask about the experience with that place.
I'm feeling summer!! right now..
