The venue was fatastic in some ways. Though the art really helped, thanks so much for bringing that artist, I don't even know what to say that would properly express it.
I'm feeling cuddly right now..

And it also explains the high door price. For all those people who claim 40$ is too expensive for a party. It's a 1 time experience. It's kind of disapointing that the party people in general don't understand that.

To quote a buddy...

"Anyone who has $40 in their pocket is probably too responsible a citizen to be interested in raving."

Maybe a review of the target audience is in order.

At any rate, thanks for your hard work. I, and I'm sure everyone else who participated, had a blast! The sound was hilarious. I'm surprised none of those windows out front were blasted right off...
I'm feeling like a field right now..

There are at least 2 raves every week-end ( sometimes more), there is a psy trance night tuesday, sometimes another one thursday, there is a dubstep night wednesday... etc

With such a vast array of events, with the vast majority 20$ or less ( even free) it's hard to justify a 40$ price for the same dj's you can see at all the other events every week.
I'm feeling good right now..

That does not change that the vibration was unbearable. The windows were shaking like crazy, the mirrors were preventing the sound waves from escaping, creating even more vibrations. Maybe it wouldn't vibrate so much if there was only one room going?? I would of stayed for Rikam's set, but my ears were hurting too much, I really should get some ear plugs, getting too old for this sonic abuse ;)

Dancing on hardwood floors was awesome!!!!! And there was room to dance :) !!
Partying in a nice clean place was awesome!!!
The staff was of course wonderful!!
And being allowed to smoke at the front door was awesome, none of "everyone inside we don't want to get busted" :p

I rarely mine to pay 30$ for a party. The only times I mind is if it's only local DJs with one room, once there is a headliner or several rooms, I'm down.

The place had to tried out to know, too bad it wasn't done with a smaller party, like Hexa 5's birthday.

The venue costs almost 3000$ as well .. we pretty much needed close to full capacity to break even.

I'm feeling ionized :))) right now..

People complaining about it too loud?? What are you 70 with a pace maker and hearing aid?!!!
The bass was fucking awesome, and def hilarious!
$40?! Come on the deco was amzzzzzing, lots of hard work, and CLEAN environments make the vibe that much better.
And also it wouldnt be 40 unless you were too damn lazy to get a friggin ticket and purchase like a responsible parytier. Getting the best deals for awesome parties you want to attend
Stop bitching and buy tickets people. For EVERY event you attend
Not only does it save YOU money, provides less stress to yourself so you know your going, but helps out the promoters as well
Get it? Got it?
GOOOD
FUCK YEAH

I want to say first of all, thanks to everyone who helped out with this party. There were a lot of you and you were all incredible. Allie, Natalya, Leiah, Zoe, Cass, Johnny, Rance, Andre...and man Johnny you especially, you were a fucking machine. This guy was there until from Noon saturday until 10am the next day helping us sweep and mop and haul speakers...

A few things about money...

We made tickets available for $20 for more than a month prior to the event. For three rooms, professional sound, a clean venue, and an international deco artist of that calibre...20$ is nothing. Vince and I understand that for some people 40$ is a lot, and that's precisely why we made presale tickets so cheap. Neither of us want to prevent someone from experiencing one of the parties we throw because they can't afford it. We make these parties happen because we genuinely want as many people as possible to experience something which is completely beyond their everyday reality. But at the same time...this was a 40$ party. This party cost about 8000$ to organize and it makes sense for that cost to be shared among the people taking part. Our projected attendance was 250-300, and we wound up with 210 attending, which includes DJs and staff. In the end we were able to pay everyone who we told we would pay, but both Vince and myself now have significant debts to work off.

I think both Digital Garden and Prism Code are planning on taking a long break from throwing parties after this one. It feels great to be able to create such an experience for so many people, but in the end, the level of financial risk combined with the stress of organizing is just too high to keep up with anymore. And if people can't or won't pay $40 for a party...we can't throw $40 parties, it's as simple as that.

______________________________________________________________________________

As for the sound...please, if you go to concerts or clubs or raves on a regular basis, invest in ear plugs. If you don't wear earplugs to these events, you will have hearing loss. It's as simple as that. I agree that the sound was a little loud for the size of the venue, but...it's a rave. That's kind of the point.

Earplugs like these: [ img.shoppingnexus.com ]

Can be purchased online from any of these places: [ www.google.com ]

Decent hi-fi earplugs can be purchased for 15-30$, and will reduce the overall volume equally at all frequencies, which means that you can still hear the same frequency range, but just a little quieter. And that way you can still get your body massaged by some badass motherfucking heavy bass.

Pretty much what he said. I never intended to make parties with the "lowest common denominator" in mind. I just can't bring myself to do a half ass job to "keep it cheap".

...............................................

low·est common denominator (lst)
n.

a. The most basic, least sophisticated level of taste, sensibility, or opinion among a group of people.

b. The group having such taste, sensibility, or opinion

I also completely agree. I always get my tickets in advance :) I am definitely getting some fancy ear plugs, I am long over due.

There will always be people who think it's too expensive and those who think the price is completely justified... not sure there is a winning argument, it depends on what you value...your point of view.

I was surprised not too see the regulars I usually hang out with at parties... not sure where they were all hiding.

Is it possible to put some sort of removable foam on top of the windows? Something to absorb the sound waves to reduce the shaking/vibration?
I'm feeling punkadelic right now..
