i heard that smoking weed can make you not remember your dreams... how is it for you?

from my side, i don't smoke weed, and i remember my dreams a lot, they are really strong and important manifestations of my unconscious, and play a really important part in my life...

i wonder if you don't remember dreams because the weed make you access your unconscious while awake? do any of you have some interesting insight on the relationship between these 2 things?
I'm feeling excited !!! right now..

it's true

i've been smoking weed before going to bed for almost 10 years non stop

i could sometimes remember part of the dream, but usually i would wake up, still tired, and not even knowing i had dreams (wich we have every night apparently)

i've been slacking weed for 2 months now. Without stopping completely, i find myself sober more than usual before going to bed

just this morning i could remember the dream i had from A to Z almost

and it was a funny sexy one, so i was pretty happy to have souvenir of it :)

One Melatonin (N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine) a week makes me have crazy dreams...

[ en.wikipedia.org ]

Dreaming

Some supplemental melatonin users report an increase in vivid dreaming. Extremely high doses of melatonin (50 mg) dramatically increased REM sleep time and dream activity in both people with and without narcolepsy. Many psychoactive drugs, such as cannabis and lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), increase melatonin synthesis. It has been suggested that nonpolar (lipid-soluble) indolic hallucinogenic drugs emulate melatonin activity in the awakened state and that both act on the same areas of the brain.

It's true. I used to smoke weed everyday for 2 years and I never remembered my dreams. Now I smoke only every week or every two weeks and I remember my dreams a lot more. Especially when I get to wake up late (as opposed to setting up my alarm and going to work)
I'm feeling trip pogo right now..

I personally condur on the Mary Jane = no dreams, I mainly only smoke during the summer with the occasional exception (stop during the school semesters of fall and winter), and it happens to me, I dream all winter long and remember the rarest of dreams during the summer.

I don't know too too much on the subject, although I took a class with Dr. Jean-Roch Lawrence (Hypnosis and Dissociation) and he mentioned that frequent cannabis users report not dreaming. And that when they quit smoking dreaming seems to come back in an exponential manner. Almost in a direction relationship, the longer you smoked the more dreams you will have till your caught up once having stopped. Now I can't remember if REM sleep was diminished or not, the supposed time when we dream.

i dream even though i smoke up before sleeping most of the time, but my dreams come at the end, near when i wake up.

and yeah, Melatonin can make you dream more. I've taken some to sleep when i couldn't smoke, not quite as efficient for me, but you don't lose so much in the dreams department.

.. obviously i have issues with insomnia XD

I don't recall ever remembering my dreams when I used to smoke.
I love to dream and I'm happy that I remember most of them now
The dreams I have after acid are usually the most vivid.
I'm feeling purple!! <3 right now..

Funny.

I'm a big pothead.
And I tend to fall asleep right after my dodo-joint.

For me, weed, has kinda enhanced my dream state. Somehow, like 80% of the dreams I have are vivid dreams. The really really vivid kind. I wake up remembering every intricate detail. I even think there's a few things that I've learnt to do in my dreams. Fire breathing amongst other things. And the dreams are so true-to-life too. Imagine dreaming about pizza (or sex), waking up, and you can STILL taste it...
I'm feeling wicked right now..

i get that only with nightmares

i dreamt once i got stab in the hand

my hand hurt like a bitch for the entire day after I woke up, at the exact same place i was hit by the knife

got more example, but even on weed, i use to remember my nightmares compare to remembering anything when it's was a dream. Maybe because the scary experience is kind of traumatic and because of that easier to remember than dreams?

i love to fall asleep on weed, one of my biggest weakness haha (of course, talking for myself)

when i was 16 to 19 i use to pass my entire days off, in my bed, sleeping, waking up, smoke a joint right away without getting up, watching the rest of the Simpsons episode currently playing and falling asleep again. I could do that for 24 hours non stop, just sleeping and smoking

it was my personal "Paradis Artificiel" (well... one of them)

not really. sleep paralysis is a "glitch" in the body's function. when you sleep, your brain cuts off your body so that you don't act out physically what you're dreaming and hurt yourself. Sleep Paralysis is when you wake up and your brain doesn't realize it's awake yet, so you keep dreaming but the body's "cutoff" switch is still turned on. Usually it happens because of a shock/surprise in the dream, which tends to happen more often than not in nightmares, so your brain sees your body isn't moving yet, and keeps dreaming, making you hallucinate while you're awake and 'bad trip' since you can't move.
I'm feeling like a drama magnet right now..

it's really bizarre, man .. it's like you're dreaming but you can see the room you're in, and that's incorporated into the sort of semi-dream - it's fucked!
