ok. so I have this old Fido pay-as-you-go phone- someone kindly gave it to me after I lost my old phone, and it was badly needed. I used it in Montreal. so when I came out here last time (May 18th) I charged it up and bought 30 bucks worth of minutes.

fine

mostly used text messages and maybe 10 short local phone calls in Montreal for the 2 days I was there. when I got back to Hamilton I turned it off. I figure I should have at least 15- 20 bucks left on the phone

so I wanted to call someone in Montreal last night and I wanted them to recognize my number so they'd know it's me calling.. I charge up my phone and try to dial, and it tells me my account is inactive, and that I have no minutes on my phone to make the phone call

so about 20 bucks worth of air time - that I bought on May 18th - has expired.

ya ya ya. I'm sure in the super fine print on the receipt they tell me how they are going to fuck me out of the air time if you dont use it in 30 days, but what the fuck.

how the fuck does money expire?? that air time should be left there on the phone for when you urgently need it - tuck the phone away in a glove compartment or something, and use it when you *need* it - like in an emergency for instance, like cell phones are made for

the only way I could see it "expiring" is if the company goes bankrupt - otherwise - no excuse

now if I wanted to make that call I'd have to go to a store and put another 20 or 30 bucks on the phone, just to make one brief call or text message... and then that money will in turn, expire 30 days from now.

seems crooked

/rant over

It's standard on every pre-paid card that the time you buy comes with a deadline of something like 30-35 days after first use. I've never had anything but a "regular" cellphone and I know that!
I'm feeling like a drama magnet right now..

uh

im a monthly fido customer since about 5-6 years.. im pretty satisfied with them except for theses little lines that you do not read as recoil said

here is the last time Ive been screwed by them:

contract renewal, 2 years term.. ok i pick up a new free phone.. LG XENON.. looks nice with a qwerty keypad.... ohhh and if i don't like it I have 15 days to return it so its no problem because ''they care about our satisfaction''

after 6-7 days i realized i really don't like this phone at all and i don't want to spend 2 more years with this crappy phone

turns out, when i call them for the return process they won't accept it back because these small lines specify that its 15 days OR 30 minutes talk time.. and I did used about 45 minutes or something..

WTF? that's SOOO unfair, do you know someone who will subscribe to a post paid account 2 years term by using 30 minutes each 15 days ??? that's fucking 60 minutes per month ALL TIME of the day

anyways, I still do assume that's it was MY responsibility to read my agreement and ill never do that kind of mistake once again.

FUCK YOU FIDO

btw recoil if you prefer prepaid next time go with Virgin, from what i do remember they have much better pre paid plans, fido is good for post paid not pre paid

i know it's crap. having used pay-as-you-go in the past and working for a cell phone company, it's totally a cash grap by them since they know 90% of people who use it are either a) bad credit b) immigrants c) under 18 or d) drug dealers

either way, none of those customers count.

on a another note a 50$ card is valid for 60 days and anything under is 30 days....
I'm feeling battery operated right now..

wow that's expensive... i love sprint... i deal with them since 05 and am so attached to the now hard to get 917 area code hehe..

my old phone just died last week and got this amazing deal: 2 blackberry curve for 20$ each and then it cost me 120$/month for both of them everything unlimited..

there so many fun applications and stuff but the most fucking amazing and incredible is that tether app which permits me to get internet connection on my lap top wherever am at/// that is very cool because we are often on the road and it permits to work or watch online stuff while in my car.(it is surprisingly fast!!) and that way i have access through our lap tops to our home computers... awwwwww i love it
I'm feeling hitched right now..

Last time I checked Fido has two types of pay as you go plans...
The one has no rollover minutes and really high rates. And the other requires that you sign some sort of contract for better rates and roll overs.
You probably just had the super ghetto one if somebody gave it to you and you didn't sign anything...
Read the fine print on that shit Brutha, and don't ever sign on for any thing with bell cuz they will fuck you 1000 times harder than fido.

Im with Solo...have only had the phone for about a month..and I have abosolutely no complaints so far. Good plan, good reception, no credit checks..the only down side is that their customer service department is only open from 10-6 Mon-Fri. Definitely worth looking into though..
I'm feeling hell ect right now..

Solo is part of Bell and they are terrible.
Expect to pay double what you expect and get used to being lied to and having a contract that doesn't mean anything.
Personaly I'm actually pretty impressed with fido.
I got a great phone, decent service and my phone bill never exceeds my plan. Sooooooo happy that I canceled bell!!!
