Or, if you go to the same bar over, and over and over... well, you might end up HATING IT! But, a well balanced diet of stuffs, like a little dark, a little light, some grey, a unicorn, a soup spoon, some jumper cables and betty crooker frostings... well, now that's a salad!!!
What do I listen to on a weekly basis? TECHNO-TRANCE-BREAKS-DNB-JUNGLE-DUBSTEP-HOUSE-ELECTRO-INDUSTRIAL-ROCK-DUB-REGGAE-DANCEHALL-RAP-HIP HOP-JAZZ-FUNK-SOUL-COUNTRY-BLUE GRASS-BALI STYLE-BINGRA-AMBIENT-TRIP HOP-HEAVY METAL-SYNTH POP-80S-BLUES-CLASSICAL-OPERA-CHORAL-EXPERIMENTAL-WORLD BEAT... (I could keep going, but you get the point) I think a well balanced diet of music not only keeps you healthy, but it assures you of not getting bored or jaded of a sound or scene... I love hardcore/jungle/D&B but I've been saturated with it - the music and the scene - for so long that I need a break I love so many styles- I'm really just limited by cash. I would *love* to have crates of electro or breaks or house or minimal techno funk oldskool hip hop foundation reggae blues - whatever, of the same calibre that I have for jungle - lots of really good whitelabels and one-offs. just takes a lot of money and time researching and digging and getting records shipped I was just saying, I should dig out some oldskool hip hop or house I have and mix that for a change - just to have some variety. i've been buying a real mix of good records lately online.. lots of different styles. and once i get serato or CDJs I can start buying up new digital releases. for now though, if it aint on wax, I cant mix it sooo much good music out there, it's silly to limit oneself to one genre |
