Hey ravewavers, looking for some assistance here. My 18 yr old nephew is coming to live with me for the summer, and is looking for some work, to save money before heading offf to University in the fall

I thought I had a plug for him at a Market Research firm I used to work for, but was told 2 months was too short.

Any of you have any cool English only call centre jobs that may be hiring students for the summer?

I figure for him, call centre work, or video game testing would be and ideal fun job for the summer, where he'd be able to meet some cool Montrealers, and have a good working vacation. He does need some kind of office job, as he has a slight disability that makes standing, or working on his feet for long periods quite unbearable

Any help any of you have would be wikkid awesome. I have his CV here, and would be able to put any future bosses in touch with him for a pre-interview. His landing date should be sometime between June 24 and July 1

Thank you
db

Alpha Field Services. 1851 Rue Sainte-Catherine W. Montreal, QC H3H 1M2 (514) 933-6996

They do survey- telemarketing....mostly in the west...I used to work there 5-6 ago when the min salary was like 7 $ or something but now they pay better and the schedules are super flexibles...like ( from 9 am to 11 pm) and weekends so he can chose wtv. That was when I was there though. Also...the job super easy!

hum, maybe some work in industrial places that pays minimal wage and/or under the table. Shipping companys, chain work. Go to the industril district in ville st-laurent, it's full of non-french speaking immigrants there, even if the english is not a 100% there, you can work so...

But yeah, if you want to work here for a long time, a little bit of french would help you alot. You dont need to be Molière. Even very bad french would do lol ;)

Data entry jobs could be cool too. Better than the horrible industrial district that's for sure. I'd say most montreal call centers requires you to speak both french/english.
I'm feeling like an ocean right now..

@ cutter.

Not sure of the contact info but try IPSOS direct ( market research firm)

Just don't tell them he's only going to be there 2 months.

He basically gets to chose his schedule as long as a minimum amount of hours are completed.
I'm feeling overwhelmed right now..

lol. actually I can't picture that, because it's a ridiculous scenario, and not even remotely comparable.

There is no Croatian minority in Cuba, and it's thousands of miles away.. so nobody would go there hoping to find a "Croatian only" job, unless they were batshit crazy.

but it is possible for someone who only speaks English to get work in Montreal, because - like it or not - it is part of an English-speaking country, has an anglophone minority, and is next door to the United States.

All he is asking is for some English-speaking temp work for his nephew who is *visiting* for the summer. there's no need to be so rude.

and if we're gonna delve into issues of territory and language rights, maybe we should all be required to learn some Cree, Ojibway and Mohawk as well ;)

lol if 50% is a minority to you then you're as stoopid as your claims

the scenario is this , you're in montreal

you then get all your square head family member from accross the border in ours , where french in the workplace is the prime language weather you didnt like when we took upper canada down or not.

now you come in dwell in lower canada , least you can do is speak the language, and on top calling us a minority shows how anal you are about a totalitarian world run on a single language

i don't get why its only stupid ontarians act like this , my friends from the STATES UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, the least folks on earth youd expect to even drop a " bonjour " speak their broken french that they learn in school.

you go anywhere in europe . people will know more than one language and will at leat try and show respect by adressing people in their language .

anything else is a rush to assimilation now go and preach your cultural obliteration, and make shure we praise your fucking queen if its so damn important to you

here we are trying to preserve the language of real poets , not the basterdised version of the deutch language.

i was polite so far but honestly hope your kind die and your friend will bust his ass for 2 months trying to clean windshilds at the corner of notredame & papineau instead of coming here to steal our jobs so i can spit on yous while i drive by

university , make me laugh this fuckhead had frenchcourses even if hes from ontario , do your half instead of having that money we invested esp for that toss agaisnt us

regards

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, yeah, that's why so many french people speak proper french, and not quebecois french that's 2/3 english words or bad slang. The french that most of the people speak is to actual french, what ebonics is to english.

as for the native language , you have to do the same towards their language imo. the problem is they dont want people in their reserve for the same reason as we dont want you stupid squares here.

even wetbacks have a better attitude, what do you care screw , hes not slealing your jobs as i recall your status

i wont escalate more on the subject since its seems some people here are blind and deft about where they are on this rock , and if you go back youll find that i proposed what all of you would ask of anybody if youd open the door , if you contradict this then your a lier or a moron , witch explain the retarded responses i got

Most people in France speak slang as well, with a big dose of english words too. I'm not convinced that the average person on either side speak 100% "pure french" like the official media (news anchors, tv dramas, government ect.)

For instance, listen to Gallipeau or DeRome give you the news, then a teen from Marseille, then tell me who speaks proper french ;)

i think people who are against the nephew coming working here... that kind of mentality and way of thinking will not change anything but only brings hate and mutual resentment.

i feel the company or corporation hiring only english personal should get the blame; not the worker who is not in a power position to change things at all.

it's like all those american corporations where illegal aliens works for years and then happen a crack down, they get treated like criminal and the companies or corporations are never blame for hiring and exploiting the workers.

i think the nephew have way much more chance to learn some french if he can get a job for the summer and be an active member of quebec society than if we give him the cold shoulder...

ps: so... speaking white or not... welcome to our french province to your nephew kissmypenis i hope he enjoys quebec!

awww i miss quebec myself when the spring comes back!
