Chemtrails?

 Coolness: 106055 | Has anyone noticed the amount of chemtrails in the sky this weekend? Maybe Is it because there are no clowds that we can notice them, but all day they have been criss-crossing Montreal from south to north and from east to west.
There are about a gazillion site about chemtrails conspiracys but nothing vagely official or even scientific. According to witnesses from around the world, This seems to be going on in about every developed country, so something has got to be going on here. Does anyone have a non crackpot explanation for these occurances? |

 Coolness: 509500 | Planes burn hundred of tons of fuel. The burnoff leaves vapor in the plane's wake.... what's so mysterious about that? On the other hand, how you ever seen a plane NOT leave a trail? I have not.
Besides, who the fuck in their right minds would burn expensive fuel just to pollute the skies... cammmoonnn chems trails.... sheesh yes they aren't healthy, but no, there is no conspiracy... it's called commercial air travel |

I have all the time. And what you're describing are "contrails" and dissipate within a few minutes. Cheemtrails turn into clowds that linger for hours... I was just wondering if anyone here had any real knowledge, in meteorology, aeronotics or the likes. If you DONT KNOW, and just blow it off as some conspiracy theory, you are just as bad as the conspicacy thearist by spreading useless non-information. |

The air goes inside the engine and what goes out is steam More you gain altitude, there's less pressure, so the temperature is colder the steam becomes water ... it's the same process as clouds So, airliners are only making clouds And the reason with there's a lot of trails above cities is because there's always an airport nearby :p |

It depends of the altitude of the plane ... higher you are, less pressure there is, so the temperature is lower so a cloud can last longer Other factors like the wind for example to dissipate those "human" clouds The wind at 10 000 feet altitude is not the same as the wind at the ground Right now I'm looking the forecasts of Dorval, and the wind at 10 000 feet is 24 knots :) Originally Posted By DATABOY
