Got to the site at 7:00, once inside we found out Noisia cancelled. Went back to ask for a refund, and was told it's not their problem, even though they just took our money. Told us to go to the front entrance where we saw a tiny sign that said "Noisia Cancelled" and talk to the "manager" aka speed addicted asshole Michelle. I asked him politely for a refund and he laughed in my face and said "Go fuck yourself" - An altrecation started after I smacked him and he got his giant security cronies to "take care of me" and gave me a UFC sized, full fisted punch to the temple. Other security arrived to break up the fight and see if I was ok, after witnessing the skull cracking blow that was delivered to my head (which happened while I wasn't looking on top of it) and kept apologizing to me. Then the giant security guard got one of his smaller bare foot speed bum friends to come "give me another hit" after he told him what happened, I over heard him say "Yeah he's right over there - go hit him, it was rly fun". Then the manager approached me again and start making "cock sucking" motions and "na-na-na-na" "bla-bla-bla-bla" faces as if to say "Hahah we took your money and fucked you up at the same time" to further instigate the situation.

First time going to Piknik: Didn't see Noisia, they stole my money, and I nearly got a concussion from their mongoloid staff.

All in all - you have failed miserably Piknik, good luck getting respect from ppl who actually have common sense and a conscious. I'm gonna go ice my throbbing skull now.

Go montreal

All in all, bad situation. But, really, when you say "asked him politely", what do you mean exactly? Because I know Michel and he's really not the type of guy to answer "go fuck yourself", unless of course you were extremely rude to him from the get go.
I'm feeling yay right now..

I wasn't rude, I waited like I was asked to, it took him 3 minutes to get there, and he had already made up his mind, I saw him shake his head "NO" when the staff asked him, he didn't even CONSIDER it. so fuck him, fuck piknic and anyone who supports these fuckin wankers. Michel Quintal and the whole Pikic crew are crooks, so good riddance.

Its was fucking $10.00, if you wanted cash that bad I would have given it to you man!

Starting fights is a big NO NO, regardless of circumstances, you know that

PS I've worked with Michel for more than 4 years, he's one of the most straight up guys I know and I've always been treated with respect and professionalism, so I have a hard time believing any of this shit you're writing about him either.

Awww Alex man, WTF?

Their facebook page warned about the cancellation / trade-off 6h ago. Though yeah, didn't manage to check it before actually arriving @ Picnik :p

And yeah, got there at 8:30ish, no one was there to control for bracelet. Sweet :)

Goth-Trad was good, though possibly a bit less than yesterday. Sound system evidently a factor.

All in all, managed to have a couple of beers with a couple of nice friends, I'm happy :)

..
They should've warned @ the door though. The fact that you paid without knowing the headliners were a no-show could be grounds for reimbursement, IMHO.

And a security guy really sucker-punched you over a 10$ refund? Duuude, not cool.

I wassss really disapointed getting there, after getting my shift CUT for NOIsia and then went there for Dubstep that i didn't really liked.I called my friend they didn't told me noisia wasn't playing so they wanted me to go still. But yeah.Host...I Know you were pissed off.but it was not PICNIK'S fault at alL!!!! THey got screwed up by noisia TWICE this year.Once at Igloo fest, and this time. What was the reason.THEY FUCKING MISSED THEIR PLANE.Picnik is always 10$ everytime,..Noisia or not.I can understand you dissapointed,i was too.But getting into a fight for that? Instead, write a comment to noisia and tell them how shitty they are for Busting your money because they were too lame to take their plane on time.

By the way,all and all,i had fun dancing with all my friends and i had a great time finally.Peace
I'm feeling on a boat right now..

honestly it's not like they really made the sign very visible. it was written in the corner of a white dry-erase board with a ton of other stuff written on it in letters that couldn't have been more than 3" high (and that's being pretty generous)

it was also partially behind a part of the baricades; you really had to look for it to know it was there.

There was no sign at the second entrance - and they neglected to tell me they weren't there. They pretended that they couldn't open the lock box and give me back my 20$ - so I lost my cool, and I wasn't seeing the bigger picture at the time, I just wanted my 20 bucks. I felt like I was being jipped so I just wanted to leave. There was no retribution and I was being treated like I was invisible. I'm at a loss for words still. I'm a pretty emotional guy when it comes to something I'm dedicated to, and he got the best of me at the worst time. Sorry to the heads for this embarrassing situation. I'm ashamed.

Frank..you're right man. I totally deserved getting tagged back. By Michel himself, not a 6 foot 7 security guard that has me cornered. I'm only stating that I had a bad night, I'm not waging war against anyone or trying to make anyone else feel bad about their night. I heard corey's set echoing as I cold pressed a freezy to my temple, but that's pretty much it. Sorry I'm such a putz.

Ps: I'm still a bit peeved, but Gridlok at Corey's birthday will definitely be worth my 10$ and will soothe my aching head for good. ;) Power to the ppl

hi..

first of all i feel really bad for the crowd and promoters in montreal.. i can imagine how fucked up it would be to expect the same act to perform and not show up twice (in 6 months for that matter)

i have to say tho that this has (obviously!) never been a case of lazyness or disinterest from our side.. i can't believe all the shit this guy posting the thread is saying and most of all assuming..

the first gig we were booked for in montreal earlier this year was cancelled due to a double booking both in europe and north america and this happened (as far as i remember) three weeks (was it two and a half??) in advance. we don't personally deal with refunds or any fees in general for that matter and we would certainly not act like arrogant motherfuckers towards promoters or fans if something like this happens..

the second one, tonight, was a totally different thing..
i played in atlanta last night and got to the airport in time only to find out that delta 5603 from atlanta to montreal had been cancelled (so FUCK YOU and you hard to catch planes) just in case you don't believe in cancelled flights:

i found out in a pretty fucked up way namely printing out my boarding pass at the selfcheck kiosk and reading boarding time: 8.40 AM 22 june.. i was like WTF!! so i went to the delta desk and told them there mustve been something wrong, showing them my itinerary, and so on..
no no the flight was cancelled.. i told them i HAD to get to montreal before 8 pm and explained the matter..
they eventually understood the urgency of it and found the only other flight from atlanta that was gonna get there in time for the show.. northwest airlines thru detroit.. but it was set to depart in 20 mins.. so you better run.. they gave me a hand written boardingpass and i ran.. then security "randomly" selected me and i still had to go 2 stops by the concoursetrain ran up the escalator and ran to the gate almost tripping all the time trying to find my way thru the extremely unorganized fastfood lines etc.. only to arrive at the gate and seeing the plane disconnect from the terminal..

after this i waited for another 6 or 7 hours at atlanta airport to catch the next flight to montreal to maybe be able to play at an afterparty or so.. and because my return flight to amsterdam is due to depart from montreal tomorrow so i had to get there anyway..

DO YOU REALIZE HOW FUCKED UP I FEEL??

1. i had to face the people that booked us twice but got no show..
2. i didn't get paid, so why would i deliberately do this???
3. the promoters lost money (flight share etc)
4. this is a VERY bad look for us..
5. slightly less but also bad rep for the promoters
6. this is my job and i ALWAYS try to make it to a gig..

i'm writing this from a hotel room in montreal.. if you wanna discuss further or maybe want a private dj set in your bedroom or whatsofuckingever tomorrow, let me know..

for all the people that do understand that things don't always work out the way they're supposed to, respect and i really sincerely hope to finally be able to play in montreal next time, cause a lot of people told me it was gonna be a great gig and i was really looking forward to it..

peace martijn
