hmmm.. when I was 17 doing the janitor work for the entire basment of the Hamilton Spectator newspaper. place had to be spic and span by 7 am every shift.. for minimum wage. giant pools of ink in the print room are not fun to mop up

runner up would be door-to-door canvassing for Greenpeace when I was 18. fun at times but mostly terrible

Worker in a pig slaughter house ... you can wash 3 times a day, and you'll still end up smelling of old pig blood. Not mentioning the fact chain work with unionised people really sucks.

working for a company called Clean International

We were cleaning giant meat slicers, fuckin reaks!
it was everywere from ceiling to walls, and we had to push it all in one
tiny drain on the floor that was stuck most of the time. I think that was the
worst...

I had two.

One was a newspaper recycling business. I spent eight hours making piles of La Presse and making sure the ads were gone (like, inserted documents).

The other one was cleaning machinery for a foam company. Basically, I had to splash acid and use dry ice to remove stuck styrofoam and rubber off metal pieces. I had to wear a mask linked to an oxygen canister at all times or I'd die.

Fun.
I'm feeling smart went crazy right now..

La Senza was your worse job ? How come ?

I'd say the last 3 jobs I had. Call centers for cellphone or cable companies. Working with the public is the hardest, most unrewarding job I ever had. A lot of people fucking suck, are unbelievably stupid ungrateful spoiled little shits that talk down to agents like you'd talk to a someone who just murdered your entire family.

Of course, you have clients who are just awesome, comprehensive and quite humorous sometimes, thank God, but they only consist of a small fraction of them. The rest talk to you like they own the company and have strict demands and requirements. Unfortunately for them, you need to buy that company's stocks to be an owner, otherwise you're just a customer using a particular service.

I buy gas every week for my car but that doesn't give me the right to call Petro-Canada, insult the Customer Service agent until she cries, request to talk to a supervisor and demand that he or she credit me 6 months of overpriced gas, that the company is purposely screwing ME over and to do it now or "I'll go to Esso".

My main gripe : people just have ZERO fucking respect anymore yet they demand 200% respect back from you. What goes on in your little heads that make you believe it works this way ?

MAJOR SUCKAGE.
I'm feeling skate 2 right now..

V2-1 sorry but you work for the company and people have had dealing with it's employees and they hold you up to it.

For example, I wanted to know the maximum amount of email I could send within a day because I read the contract and they said that with any breach my service would be cut and I'd be fined. So I called the ISP, waited for 10+ mins, explained my situation clearly, and of course EVERY time had to reexplain myself (which I find you have to do with most distance service), I needed an exact amount then required them to make a ticket and give me the number so I'd be backed if they decided to fuck me over, then called back (getting someone else) asking to have the ticket read live. I had to do this 4 times then ask for a manager. Do you think I cared about the feeling of the 3rd and 4th idiot ? Was it so hard to write "I hereby confirm to Mr. X that the maximum emails sent by day (slice of 24 hour) is Y." ? For all that trouble, I got nothing but the premade, not caring, apology from the manager that don't even sound like an apology.

I worked for a company that charged twice the amount of a very common service but their service was impeccable, clients mentioned their high prices but still recommended them. Once (the first time too) I screwed up and was given a real hard time by by bosses boss who made it up to the client, do big company care so much about their client ?

Ok but you are talking about outsourcers that can barely understand english or french here. Granted, that's one hell of a challenge.

Look I understand how agents can be fucking stupid sometimes and it can be frustrating experience and all, trust me, but it shouldn't be a reason to verbally assault them. I know Petro-Canada is screwing me over and that agent will cram out some prefabricated response when I call injustice on the company's part but you think yelling at the agent will give me a preferential rate or credit ? Do you think it's justified for me to call that agent a fucking liar, a son of a bitch and tell him that if the prices don't drop, I'll personally got down there and strangle him with his headset cord ? That dude is not paid enough to hear this shit all day long. Plus, there are more CIVILIZED ways of dealing with a situation than yelling and insulting.

That's what I was talking about. And as for the 3rd or 4th idiot, don't take it out on them. Take it out on the company that managed to hire these retards 'cause they're just paid minimum wage to spew out stuff the company brainwashes them into saying. Yes, it does sucks but the company's practices are to blame.

I wasn't disputing that, big companies want to make cash and some will cut funds to their customer service base, outsourcing and such. I was talking about how clients talk to agents.

But dude, trust me, I know exactly where you're coming from. I'm a client myself too. Heh.

V2-1 about the outsourcing, they didn't have a foreign accent, not even American and I'm pretty sure they were Canadian.

I'd never insult someone unless they'd do it beforehand if it's obvious s/he isn't confused but intended in doing so ; I was brash after loosing my patience.

Anyway this is far from the subject, you may be the needle in the haystack but I think a lot of people in customer support only think about what to say or do to shorten the call and that customer satisfaction is as far in their mind as people starving to death.

word ! I worked in customer service all my life and barely never had that kind of problem 'coz I choose the companies I work for, and I do my job to the best of my abilities (meaning: serving the customer). I do get great rewards from thos jobs as well, both monetary and morally speaking.
