hmmm.. that wemf deal sounds alot worse - having to pay 565$ for the right to put up renegade stage.

but i guess it's not too comparable; the difference being that wemf seems huge (correct me if i'm wrong) and ppl set up stages for exposure and to be part of something that big, kind of like paying to run/set-up a merch table at a big festival..

when it's the event's 1st time out, its best to allow ppl to come set-up stages for free in order to create hype and get more bodies at the party, and as a show of good faith.. imo.

on the other hand, maybe it's a sort of protection, in case a bunch of ppl show up w/ a shitty set-up, w/ minimal gear they grabbed from home, just so they can go to the event for free. some ppl just suck and will do anything to save a few bucks! it's unfortunate, and others suffer 'cause of this... (possible solution/compromise: maybe allow 3 to 5 renegade set-ups for free, 1st come 1st serve, w/ a limit on the # of their crew-members that don't have to pay?)

but yeah, pay to play: not cool.

anyways, if you disagree with the idea, just don't go. it sucks for the promoters, but ppl have voiced their opinions, and the promoters will do what they want w/ that info.

(btw, alienzed, i think a_x_cell said he wasn't involved in the prod., so don't be too offended by his comments, wait to see what the promoters have to say - unless they've said as much already and i didn't notice :p )

/my half-a-cent :)

Thirdly, way to put down your clientele:
"If you want to do it, you do it at your own risks and fees because guess what, you weren't booked at this party anyway! You're just some people attending the party who thinks they can add the their little salt piece to the party."
If I were planning on attending and bringing my 'little salt piece' to your party, I'd say 'fuck you for belittling me, you can take your renegade stage and shove it' right about now.

However, I am not planning on attending, muchless spinning at your event. For fuck's sake I don't even know what style or DJs ARE booked at your event. How the hell would I know if I wanted to come or not...

Now don't misunderstand me like so many non anglos on this board tend to do. I wish y'all well and if you had replied with anything less than an INSULT to anyone planning a renegade stage, you'd have rocketed yourself to much better vibes and thus a much cleaner and better reputation. But instead you repeat the same BS that got people questioning your methods in the first place and throw in some disrespect to the same people you're trying to attract.
Clean up your language, clean up your attitude and for Jesus Joseph & Mary Christ, talk about MUSIC!!!

I realize that the promotion crews are listed and therefor the styles should be expected from their specialties. But I don't know those promoters, and that means that others won't either. Promotion only works when the consumer understands what you are talking about.

And lastly, I am posting in your thread, making it longer and somewhat dramatic, you owe me!! ;)

Wait...did I ever mentionned that I was in the promoting team in the first place? I've been to WEMF with some of these guys but I've never mentionned that I'm one of the promoters or whatever.

My goal wasn't to insult anyone around here. You found on your own attitude and insults in what I said but obviously I'm not anglo and I have to work my english a bit. Don't get offended because it wasn't my objective.

I paid about 700$ in total (with transport fees and meals) last year for WEMF just to play on our Renegade stage we set up and to play on one of the main stages (Shangri-La stage that was announced as a main stage but matter of fact was just a big renegade stage in a back of a truck) and this was obviously one of the best trip I made of my life. So I'm kind of biased since I don't really quite understand where's the problem of doing a renegade stage.

As for the styles (if I'm looking in my knowledge of the promoters), it goes as : House, Electro, Minimal Tech, Techno (Proper Techno and not "Ricardo-Villalobos-Went-To-Take-A-Piss" 20 minutes song), Hardcore(Happy/Gabber/Whatever (I don't even know who is booked)), Psy-Trance(Night/Full on/Whatever floats you boat), Trance, Hardstyle, Schranz, Breaks, Drum'n Bass and maybe more which I forgot.

We're done now?

@N.A. : You're right on everything but obviously what can I change? I'm not even in the promoter crew. As for WEMF, it was crowded but we were about 6000-6500 guys last year. There's not much to say about the party since the flaws were coming more from the organisation than the party.
I'm feeling horny right now..

Why is that? We have the right to our opinions. Just because we dont agree with this concept does not mean we are haters. You guys are mixing maybe bringing a stage/village ( i dont quite understand what ur doing) so ofcourse u agree with the organization.. How is it US GUYS become haters? Please explain..
Renegade soundsystem does not mean paying to play.. Renegade means a melange of people equipment running renegade style to do as they wish.. Using the term renegade with paying to perform is an insult to the renegade concept. Again that is my opinion. Do as you wish pay to play!!!!
In august "northtek" is happening a 4 day free festival... With soundsystems from montreal toronto ottawa newyork & sanfran. Since 2002 this event gets bigger and bigger... Huge lake huge terrain open to all performers..
Now that is renegade to me.. Use your cash to rent or buy speakers( or a brain) dont give it to promoters who solisitate artists.
Entk im out of here have a good party

Nobody of us will be payto play mAd-kiloZ .LIke i said before, the *real* stages who organized the event doN,t ask their dj to pay to play. For the renegades,i guess me too i would have put their entry for free.I understand you guys argumenting about it.But the promoters are really paying their dj's and the line-up will satisfied all genre of people. For the village thing,it's because a whole crew of montrealers are doing the road trip,i just want to do like a haunted village and do silly things.HAHAhehahe Nothing serious about that <3

Yeh, exactly. You're being haters because you don't even know what the whole concept is about yet, you're assuming that we're "paying to play" cause you have no other info on it. You're like a bunch of confused 8 year olds wandering into a conversation. And then you're telling ppl to boycott the event cause you're all too spoiled for something like this, well good for you! If you aren't happy, enjoy your free St. Jean party and stay out of this thread! Is it that hard? I mean you don't need to have an opinion on EVERYTHING do you? Even before all the info on the party is out? Seems pretty hater-ish to me. And yeah craig, I have something to do with the event, and where the fuck have you seen me jump into ppl's threads and act the way you did? You're making shit up in your head to support your insane theories pal, get some help. You aren't booked to play, so good riddance to you, and stop posting in this thread, it's THAT EASY. OR keep bumping it and keeping it at the top, thanks for the promo

Why the fuck you jumpin on me.
I made two points of contention, and clarified to those that were mistaken otherwise
It was clear to me from the get go that there were booked dj's and there were "renegade stages" with sound systems being asked to pay to play. <-- point of contention number one.
Point of contention number 2 which was simply a light hearted joke was that it makes no sense to announce a party without a line up
Point finale!

Dude seriously? You've hated on numerous threads and much worse than anyone here.
Where have I seen it?
Would you really like me to go and search the forum and give you examples my friend?

really....?

REALLY?

Fuck I even said I wanted to go camping and trip out with my friends, In fact I believe I was one off the first ones to say that, hence Melo saying yay we gonna have a Montreal Village.
Where did I say to boycott this event? Who's making shit up to support their insano ideas pally!

This was a quasi intelligent exchange of views until you came in here spouting off your fuck this fuck that bunch of hater ass hat bullshit.
YOu said it yourself that this is this crews first attempt at an event, so where exactly is the harm in people discussing their business model and way of promoting and presenting an event.

Some agree with it some don't thats life!

And its the fucking event forum, not the dj's that are booked to play an event forum, I will post as I see fit .....

Criss deloge ta tete de ton cul et change d'air mec. Your song and dance is fucking old and moldy.
I'm feeling jungle jam in june! right now..
