So lately here on Vancouver Island, it has been an issue for kids getting in car accidents on their way home from raves. We have been brainstorming/debating on who is responsible and how to prevent drinking and driving - or doing drugs and driving.
thread on rave victoria what are your thoughts? |

Um...yeah thats a tough one. Its wierd how its a problem though...seriously, who drinks at a rave? And driving high or while coming down on E or speed is usually just fine...I actually I find I drive better on those substances. And Ive never seen anyone on acid or shrooms ever think it was a good idea to drive home...but if anyone did, I would probably take their keys from them.
I would start calling the cops on ravers who were dumb enough to drink and drive or do acid and drive. It would end the problem mad quickly. Fuck, tell the cops to put a checkpoint 2 blocks from the rave. Update » Gamos wrote on Fri May 29, 2009 @ 5:59am OMG THAT SITE IS POVERTY!!!! HAHAHAHAHHAhAH man that site is of poor quality. I bet it was made in china.
Props to noah!!! | |

It's the fault of the drug user who's decided to drive after eight or more hours of raving.
And anyone who decides that it's a good idea to hitch a ride from that person. How to prevent them? Society's been trying to for the past decades. Simply won't work. I mean, the only working idea is: don't do drugs and leave before you're too tired to drive. Voila.

I can honestly admit to being one of those people who got in a car and drove while intoxicated (i was 16) and the result left me in the hospital. I will spare everyone the details but I have no drove since then other than a few times and only briefly. I think that it's the fault of the driver AND the drivers friends. I don't let friends drive if I dont think they are sober enough now because of what i did. There is no way that a promoter or the staff of a club or bar can be responsible for everyone who leaves. I dont understand why people always blame them

i believe if you know your going to drink/do drugs at a rave then dont even bring the car
Public transportation, taxi, bicycle, walk there. Do what you have to just dont bring the car I know some people would argue the cost of a taxi for instance but whats wortth a few more spare change in your pocket or your life. You choose but I dont think iots your choice to let you allow others in the car with you. If your stupid enough to drink then i think your liable for anyone in your car and your liable for other drivers safety on the road as well

i've been with people driving on drugs
never been too confortable with it but sometimes when you are young, lazy and tired you are fucking stupid and do anything to go back home i know today i won't go in a car with someone who has drink or use drugs, and will try to convince them to not drive i really wish i had a car, and often, but sometimes im glad i didn't had one has a kid because i know i would have done stupid shit like driving while being high

BUT, creating awareness is always good.. don't drive unless you're sober! our friends' lives are on the line!
