Can we have the option to search galary images by number of comments?

And the option to search members by number of coolness points?

Coolness for members would be hard... Since there is a lot to calculate for that... It could be updated every week... But not in real time...

Searching by number of comments for gallery images? What is the point of that... I guess that is possible for a top 10... I need list of things to make for the top 10 as it's one of the things which is in the bug reports... A lack of top 10 things... There used to be tons of them...

I've begun to notice that number of views for galary images isn't highly correlated with how funny/hot/cool the picture is. Lots of comments serves as a better proxy. Generally, the more comments, the better the picture.

I suppose you could get an even better proxy to find the best pics on the site using some kind of cobbs-douglas equation... picture score = (Views^x)(comments^y) where x+y=1 and x>0 and y>0. That in itself would be a cool feature. You could call it "Noah's Picture Ranker"

x and y are constants. You would choose a value of x and a value of y such that x+y=1. But x and y both have to be greater than 0.

For instance, suppose you set x=.3 and y=.7, and there was a picture with 10 comments and 250 views. Then that picture would get a score: (250^.3)(10^.7)= 26. If on the the other hand you set x=.7 and y=.3 the score is (250^.7)(10^.3)=95

The idea of the function is that it gives high scores to pictures that have both a high number of comments and a high number of views. If a picture has a high number of views only, it would get a low score. If a picture had a high number of comments only, it would also get a low score.

The higher x is, the more weight placed on views. And the higher y is, the more weight placed on comments. There is no right values for x and y. It would have to be subjective based on which values generally put the best pictures higher up the list. But I imagine the optimal result would set y>x because comments are rarer than views, and thus signal a better quality picture than views.
