but i can kinda see where he is comming from though! He prob thought that everuy party should have a cover! So he did that! He thought that he would have to dish out more that he thought! And he prob did. Alcohol at a rave um well kinda not good. Should of been BYOB, only water and energy drinks to be bought and not allowed in!

Dj's were they paid if not well no prob, not much waisted there. Equipment and lights and promo if u know the rights peeps shouldn't of paid much...The only thing he would have to really pay for r water and energy drinks and security if there was any..
I'm feeling sad right now..

amazing illegal venue imo!

it is ridiculous to charge party-goers...

i'm totally w/ noah on this one.. the hat technique is the best... i always give a 10 or so and i'm sure some people can give more or less but all together its sure to be great...

dude i'm not against you here but :

why would people pay 10$ when they can have greater party w/ bar open and known locals & outsiders acts for about or little more of the same price?

people go in illegal party for the sens of community... the sens of appropriation of the public space by THE people.... i think you forgot that in your party concept...
I'm feeling hitched right now..

I remember a underground where they didn't make ends meet and they were sending a hat around for any loose change if u had any in your pocket to give please. Alot of peeps did... U know what by doing that they didn't make ends meet but they came that much closer to making them meet. Because of the sense of comunity!!!

That was cool....

Yes it was.

Another sign of failure just occured to me : selling alcohol at an illegal venue. Not the best of decisions. That's like sending a personal invitation to the police to get your party busted.
I'm feeling dead space right now..

Well, you still need a permit to sell alcohol afterhours, regardless of an all-night rave or not.

If your venue is legal and you got permits to sell it, they'll have to find another reason to bust the party.

If your venue is illegal AND you have no permits to sell alcohol, the cops will bust your party in 30 seconds. And I don't think the cops will listen to your "but it's a private party" excuse considering the location of the venue.

hahahahaha, you guys are really funny, i bought the fucking drinks at costco, a white canadian guy, you guys are freaking funny with your stereotypical racist bastard conclusions that mexicains put drugs in your drinks, i honestly donnt know what happened though, but my girlfriend was selling the drinks at the table. Ok hum, how about not coming to our party next time if you are so broke, we dont want hobbos in, we want successful people who have something to do in life and want to have fun on week ends. Merci a tous ceux qui nous back, j;apprecie enormement. FUN equals MONEY. Im not going to get myself poor to throw parties, i want to cover costs. if i had the money i would buy my shit and throw it free but it isnt the case and NO WAY WILL I STOP MAKING PARTIES BECAUSE I DONT HAVE THE MEANS TO MAKE IT FREE. I m sick with giving reasons to problems and debating this past event. You can say all you want, you have the fucking MIC now, i just wont be expecting you at the next party. good luck in yours though.

Fortier, j'te conseille d'abord la touche Entrée/Return de ton clavier, ça permet de faire des paragraphes.

Comme ça, genre.

Pis fair enough, j'te souhaite bonne chance dans tes projets futurs.

- Mexicans put drugs in the drinks ?

- Try not to throw a party if you don't have money to rent the equipment. Nothing worse than a party thrown by penniless hobos.

- FUN does NOT equal money. If you don't want to get poor throwing parties, DON'T THROW THEM.

- Fair enough. Trust me, with your attitude, I won't be attending any of your parties.

- If you can't deal with criticism, you're doing it wrong.

One thing I find very indicative of a promoter's professionalism is how they deal with unexpected situations and criticism in general.

I don,t know about most of you here but personally, I tend to like promoters more if they say "yeah, that sucked but we are taking notes. We are sorry for the inconvenience and will strive to make things better next time, rest assured" than those who say "well if you don't like it, fuck off and don't come to our parties".

Just a thought.

'm not gonna shit on the promoter, but he sounds like a poor person trying to throw events for non-poor people. 've thrown events in the past, working on the next ones, made money, lost money, them be the breaks.

Now consider pricing: Take a look at past events: Reign in Blood (as mentioned), 3 out-of-town DJs, over a dozen locals, 2 rooms, club venue, lights, deco - 15$ in advance.
Hithced, 10 headliners, a dozen locals, bar venue, free booze for women before 0:00, 3 rooms, lights, extra sound, etc. - 15$ at the door.
Most other parties: 2/3 headliners, 2 rooms, rave/club venue, good sound, etc - max. 20/25$ in adv.
Parties in shady, underground, exterior locations: mostly locals, some sound/equip, some deco - free.

I've done your homework for you. Learn or fail.

(i know you've all gone over this for 7 pages, but i thought some numbers would help:P)
I'm feeling you up right now..

has anyone mentioned that charging for an illegal location is begging for the cops being called? I mean, isn't that the perfect argument for someone trying to make money off of nothing?

do it right or not at all... you don't give the scene a good name by being cheap and lazy.
I'm feeling warm and fuzzy right now..
