well, I've said it before to people, and I'll say it again; if you really want to stop, then just stop. Weed is psychologicaly addictive, but not physicaly. If your health is an issue, then you've got even MORE reason to stop doing it than people who "just" want to stop smoking.

Even though I'm on medication now for my intestines, only one toke from a joint makes me totally wig out and feel like I'm dying; literally, the only thought I get in my mind is "Oh fuck, I'm gonna die, I need to get to a hospital, I need to do something, fuck, I'm gonna die", as if I've been poisoned or something, and it feels like I'm literally being stabbed in the gut with a needle that's being twisted around..

So next time you think about smoking, just remember that an athsma attack CAN kill you.. Would you like to suffocate to death because you can't breathe?

See, that's the thing about it; it IS that easy. No one is holding a gun to your head and telling you to smoke.

It's a concious decision to take/roll a joint, it's a concious decision to bring it up to your lips, it's a concious decision to inhale the smoke, and it's a concious decision to repeat a few times.

If you WANT to stop smoking weed, then you DON'T take the joint, you DON'T buy any weed, you DON'T roll a joint. No one is forcing you to smoke it; your life or the life of others isn't being endangered by you not smoking (In fact, if you've got asthma, it's the other way around, and your life IS being endangered by smoking it!)

It's also not like you're going to get any withdrawl symptoms; you're not 'hooked' to something physicaly addictive, you're body isn't going to go into shock if you cold-turkey it.

Believe me, I know how tough it is; I've taken four tokes off of joints in the past 2 1/2 years, and two of those times I *did* go to the hospital because I thought I was seriously dying. I live with a pothead, and all of my friends smoke.. When I stopped smoking (not because I wanted to!) fuck.. Alex and I were smoking like 7g EVERY DAY at *least*.. I still fucking LOVE weed, every time I smell a joint burning it's like smelling someone cooking some steak on a BBQ; I practicaly start salivating because I fucking want it like you couldn't imagine.

But I don't smoke; even though it's been a bit over 2 years that I've stopped, people STILL pass me joints when we're hanging out, but I don't take them, because I *know* that the outcome will not be worth it.

Is the high from weed really worth risking a fatal asthma attack? Is the peer-presure from your friends really so bad that you'd be willing to die rather than say 'No thanks' when they pass you a joint? (and if it IS, are they really friends if they would pressure you into doing something that stands a chance of killing you?)

The thing with quitting/saying no to it, is that it's a lot harder to do, because of how much fun it is, and how routine it's become. But it's not something your life depends on, quite the opposite, and it's actually NOT as hard as most people make it out to be; it's just that people are too used to being comfortable and not putting any effort into what they're doing, only getting by with minimal effort in life.

If you want to quit, grow some balls and quit. Life isn't all roses and puppies; you've occasionally got to do some shit that you don't want to do, because it's for your own good. So man up and just stop smoking, or keep on being a whiny little pussy with the "Awww I can't quit my friends smoke WAAAH WAAAH WAAAHH" bullshit, and I'll be laughing when I find out you're in the hospital because you had a massive asthma attack because of something you CHOSE to do to yourself.

Sorry to tell you that, but Screwhead is right. It's just a matter of determination.

First of all, do you want to quit totally and definitly? If the answer's yes, then you should stop gradually. If what you want is to learn to smoke on occasion, then, the trick is to stop gradually until you stop completely, and then not smoke for a couple of weeks or months. Then you can start smoking from time to time while remembeing not to do it too often. It's exactly what I did (even though the psychological addiction wasn't very strong for me).

But honestly, the best trick I can give you is this: tell every of your friends that you'll stop. Tell them not to give you anything. And most of all, tell them that you CAN do it. If you are at least a little proud of yourself, you'll be able to stop.
I'm feeling ecstatic right now..

Like stop all relationships with everyone you know who smokes. Otherwise you won't make it. You have no real willpower left, the weed took it all.

Go lift some heavy weights to forget your "friends".

im not sure if this helps but i just quit this month and i've found my personal trick which might not work for you is pointing out the negatives of smoking weed and force negative thought about it in your head instead of just trying to pass the time. i make fun of my roomates when they smoke caseu they look so stupid high and act like idiots, a month went by of mocking it then i tried smoking agian and i felt so gross high that i cant anymore unless i need it to like help my heart calm down or something, but out of all honestly now i just get really smashed which probably makes everything worse....

i smoked 7 to 14 grams per week for 7 years and i just decided to stop one day and it wasnt hard at all.

i still hung out with people who smoked a lot, my roommates back in the days.

if you stop for yourself and REALLY wanna stop, it wont be hard, but if you dont wanna stop but seems obligated, then it will be hard.

you dont have to stop definitely just stop smoking all day lond. Keep it for the late evening just before having sex with your wife or when you need some inspiration about a work in progress. I love to smoke pote before doing yoga because it helps me to center in my body..yeah . anyway smoking pot is the least expensive habbit exept for eating your fingernails. Anyway the vast majority of time people are addicted to drugs their life has no equilibrium.

really anytime you smoke more than a 3.5g a week, it's bad, think about it a 3.5 is like 10 average size joints...so if you smoke more than a 3.5 a week thats 2 a day most days... i guess it makes a difference whether you smoke alone a lot or smoke with other people...
I'm feeling surly right now..
