I really want to get or Rane Serato ,or Traktro Scratch cuz half the song i want are not on vinyl those days.I really dislike playing with cdj,so having the feeling of a vinyl would be better for me.Witch one do you guys think is better? As i heard it's pretty easy to switch from( or Serato or TS regular vinyl .Anyway ,tell me your opinion !

Thanks

Serato.

I know a bunch of battle DJs that swear by it... and if they're not having problems with lag when they're doing scratches and cut work, then I'd say it's proven in action.
I'm feeling new records right now..

Try Both ;)

I prefer Traktor Scratch, since I'm a fan of the software. No lag at all, easy setup and a small connection box. Serato works great too, but like everything else, you need to try it first :P

i don't think Moog will want to lend it to me the 2 so i can try them LOL Do you have any reason why you prefer Traktor then Serato? Cuz actually both have a easy setup an a small connection box.

Traktor Scratch has the most to offer in my opinion though.

I'm feeling offbeat right now..

I been using Serato for quite some time....Has some nice features, easy to use, and doesn't take up a lot of CPU.
Traktor is IMO as Indica said a much better program, but it is a beast.
The newest version requires at least 1.5gig processor, and you really can't run anything else with it.

Both work great with a mac, serato for the interface / records et al it is gonna cost ya around 650-700 bucks

Personally I am looking at getting the new Mackie D4 mixer with the firewire included, comes TS ready outta the box, just need to get the control records, but even at that my goal would be to be able to run 4 channels TS with a midi controller for sampling, / 2 phono / and still dedicate to lines to Serato (or cdj's)

The new serato software version also allows you to map out a midi controller to use as well in internal mode (you can do this in traktor also, but it is soooo much easier to map your midi controller in Serato)

I do love serato, I use it on MOndays as well with the control cds instead of vinyls, and it still works great . I am in the process of ripping most of my reggae andd junglee collection now...Sonice to show up to a gig with my laptop, an interface, a harddrive, and very few vinyls.

Serato imo for the size of the software, it is what you need

i love them pioneer cdj 800s!

if you can mix on tables, you can surely mix on those...
i'd almost rather not have to deal with playlists on laptops and all that jazz.

pick two mix cds and let er ripp!

but if i must comment on the traktor vs serato issue,

lets see....

i prefer what you can do with traktor.....even the older versions are pretty dope.
but ive only used serato live, with the controller vinyls....so by default, i would have to vote for serato, as being a straight forward, reliable mp3 - turntable tool.

but traktor with the controller vinyls, and a little midi controller to control the loops and fxs......wowzers!

also, ive played an entire set with serato on one turntable. im not 100% sure that traktor has this function, and if it does, im not sure how easy or un easy it may be to do. with serato it was pretty easy. one track is playing, u click a button, and then restart the vinyl with the new mp3 selected, and boom! so technically doing that with 2 vinyls, u can have 4 tracks playin at the same time!

anyways, all in all, i would consider buying one of them if i had a laptop. but i would still rather clubs n raves come equipped with 2 tables and 2 cdjs. any place lacking one of these mediums today is just not acceptable anymore. since there are djs who only play cds, or only play vinyls.

ntk, this post is too long

good luck!
I'm feeling your nuts right now..

hey does anyone know if you can realisticaly run serato on a comp that only has 1 gig of ram, that's supposed to be the minimum requirments but i'm suspicious...

what do people think should i just spend a bit of cash and jack my pc up to 2 gigs or can i get away with just 1 gig.
I'm feeling surly right now..

everyone uses serato... makes it easy to hook up your rig.

But if you're into taking dj'ing to anotha level (i.e. looping, fx), traktor is a better bet.

I've used both extensively and I ended up buying Traktor for myself. To me, it feels more like vinyl. However, if you dont have a cpu that can handle Traktor and all its requirements, then go Serato.
I'm feeling awesome right now..
