So i read about this today in the Vice mag...

it's supposed to be a new genre out of the UK called "Bassline House"...here is the article about it from vice online [ www.viceland.com ]

anyway,

i downloaded some shit today and thought it was kinda interesting, i didn't love all of it but some of it is certainly very interesting.

here is the torrent file i downloaded for the mix...
[ thepiratebay.org ]

artists who are big in this genre (from what i can tell) are people like Delinquent, Dexplicit and T2

some comentators in the Uk have described Bassline House as nothing new simply a breed of Speed Core Garage with a little tweaking...

what do other people on this board think...
I'm feeling surly right now..

if your into garage or two step i could see how you would like this stuff, like i said i kinda like some of it, i wouldn't spin it (not a whole set at least) or wanna listen to it all night, but i can see the appeal, i'll stick it on my ipod for ridding the trains...
I'm feeling surly right now..

yeah well... as long as the female vocals dont get too cheezy... some of it is really good... you even got some tracks with grime MCs on the big basslines... fun stuff

but even with those cheesy r&b-ish vocals, i still love how they cut it up and all

I thought it sounded like speed garage when I first heard it too...though it does have kind of a grime influence in there. I'm not crazy about it, but it is more fun then a lot of dance music out there.

this speedgarage mixed with gay house (I mean as in homosexual)...

Really.

It's like someone wanted to take the music from gay clubs and make it more thuggish.

It ranges from awesome to the most annoying shit I ever heard.
I'm feeling gangsta right now..

is there ANY genre you like _all_ the songs tho??

just as long as they don't have too many wannabe cheezball UK RnB singers in it, i'm fine with it.

Bassline (a.k.a "Niche" music, named after the club which played it alot which closed in 2005, i.e. maybe it's new to us, but not to those in sunny Engurland) it's really just "post-grime 4x4 UKG". doesn't need a new name. calling it bassline is like calling a genre of music "Bass" music ... what genre has a monopoly on bass??? even if it IS million dollar bass. ;) :P
I'm feeling you right now..

I dunno, at this point, I think that dubstep has the monopoly on bass, closely followed by DnB. Even all the electro and house producers are using bass sounds and techniques that DnB artists pioneered.
I'm feeling the beast right now..

@screwhead: i agree that the Jungle-family of music producers have come up with the most innovative and cool basslines in recent times. but they don't have a monopoly on either drums nor bass :P :/ hehe j/k
