"See maps of this country"
"country in the Middle East, located at the eastern end of the Mediterranean Sea."

But I suppose you know better than Wikipedia, the CIA and Britannica... right?

Would you like me to source 10 more proofs that Israel is a country?

Where on that link does it say Israel is a country?? Its not internationally recognised as a country. Anyone can consider it to be whatever they want and there is nothing wrong with considering it a country. In case you forgot, the argument was whether or not Israel always existed.

Do I seriously have to quote it to you again?

"Main Article about Israel - country in the Middle East, located at the eastern end of the Mediterranean Sea."

You're so stupid it's incredible.

by the way, where did you hear that the U.N. does not recognize Israel as a country? Just cause Iran and Lebanon might have given speeches saying stupid shit like that, really doesn't mean anything.

It was never recognised as a country by the UN. THEY NEVER AGREED ON WHERE THE BORDER WAS. You can't officially have a country if you don't officially know where the border is.

This here is the world in 1945:

and this is the world today:

Your kingdom of Israel links is a bunch of bible quotes first of all, second of all.. did you even bother reading the introduction? Btw the Egyptians referred to it as the Land of Israel when they invaded, it was not a country then, before that or after that until WW2, it was the land they invaded.

Introduction
Some writers consider the different source materials to be in conflict. See The Bible and history for further information. This is a controversial subject, with implications in the fields of religion, politics and diplomacy.

This article attempts to give a scholarly view which would currently be supported by most historians. The precise dates and the precision by which they may be stated are subject to continuing discussion and challenge. There are no biblical events whose precise year can be validated by external sources before the early 9th century BCE (The rise of Omri, King of Israel). Therefore all earlier dates are extrapolations. Further, the Bible does not render itself very easily to these calculations: mostly it does not state any time period longer than a single life time and a historical line must be reconstructed by adding discrete quantities, a process that naturally introduces rounding errors. The earlier dates presented here and their accuracy reflects a maximalist view, in that it uses the Bible as its sole source.

Others, known as minimalists dispute that many of the events happened at all, making the dating of them moot: if the very existence of the united kingdom is in doubt, it is pointless to claim that it disintegrated in 922 BCE. However, a few of the events from the 9th century onward do have corroborations; see for example Mesha Stele.

So two maps hosted by [ un.org ] means the U.N. does not recognize Israel as a country. Gotcha.

.... dissing CIA data gathering.

state = nation state = sovereign state = country = kingdom = principality = republic = et cetera....

IIRC ( IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY ), When Israel drafted their constitution, United States recognized it as a Nation State.
After the 6 Days War, Egypt was forced ( cuz the Jews totally kicked Arabs asses ) to recognized Israel as a Nation State to regain the Sinai. But you know i should reread my books and notes ( if they aren't recycled already ), instead of just writing what i think is fact, and later finding links of articles to support my view.

Moondancer.... ahem...

Truthiness

is a satirical term invented by Stephen Colbert in reference to the quality by which a person claims to know something intuitively, instinctively, or "from the gut" without regard to evidence, logic, intellectual examination, or actual facts

"something that is spoken as if true that one wants others to believe is true, that said often enough with enough voices orchestrated in behind it, might even sound true, but is not true."

Okay i need to clarify my previous post and reply to statement made by some people. If i don't i will never get any sleep.
I am well aware that nearly all of you don't care and looking forward to simpler pleasures in life.
Thus, skip my post. go have your beer, smoke what you got and enjoy your youtubes.

those interested in history and political science, read on.
To teach a very complex subject is very difficult and challenging. Mainly how to imput the facts
and not overkill the students with boredom. I will concise the points.

These 2 things need to be address.

1. --"I recently heard an example of some children in Arab states not being taught about the holocaust, so they think the Jews just "took over" Israel and don't know the real history of why the country exists now."

2. --"Where on that link does it say Israel is a country?? Its not internationally recognised as a country. Anyone can consider it to be whatever they want and there is nothing wrong with considering it a country. In case you forgot, the argument was whether or not Israel always existed."

-- " It was never recognised as a country by the UN. THEY NEVER AGREED ON WHERE THE BORDER WAS. You can't officially have a country if you don't officially know where the border is."
---------------------

woot let's go.

1. It's is true that some Arabs don't teach teached their kids about Holocaust, but hatred isn't one side. We'll seen Jewish children writting on bombs, wonder what the Israeli Jews teaches their children?
Have you ever know someone .. an Israeli.... who joined the Israel Army.. and came back? the hatred they were taught... Japan still doesn't teaches their young about the atrocities the Imperial Japan army did in
China. National selective Amnesia, wonderful doublethink.

Yes Israel did "just appear" out of nowhere....

- May 14th 1948, Ben-Gurion proclaimed the State of Israel.
- United States and the Soviet Union immediately recognized the new nation ( aka country )
- hundred of thousands of Palestinians refugees fled out of their home, of their farmlands which their ancestors toil for thousands of years.
- May 15, various Arab nations poised to strike Israel. - War!!
- September 17th, Bernadotte who is working for the UN security council for a peaceful solution is assassinated by an Israeli terrorist group, the Stern Gang.

Before that , Palestine was under the British Mandate, they got out and hand it over to the U.N.
During that time, the Zionist Movement was working hard for an Jewish state, and the Holocaust was the best thing that happened for their cause.
They played the Western countries guilt for their ignorance of the concentration camps. All the survivors, all the displaced people of WWII
had to go somewhere... Western Countries didn't want them. Even United States with a large Jewish population... the Eastern Jews were different
from their Westernized counterpart. Thus where they all go?...to the Promised Land.

2.

State of Israel Proclamation of Independence , May 14, 1948

The Land of Israel was the birthplace of the Jewish People. Here their spiritual, religious, and national identity was formed. Here they achieved independence and created a culture if national
and Universal significance. Here they wrote and gave the Bible to the world.

( blah blah blah)

In the year 1897 the first Zionist Congress, ..... proclaimed the right of the Jewish Peopleto national revival in their own country.

( blah blah blah)

Accordingly We, the members of the National Council, representing the Jewish People in Palestine and the World Zionist Movement.... the day of termination of the British Mandate for Palestine;
and by virtue of the natural and historic rights of the Jewish people and the Resolution of the General Assembly of the United Nations.

WE HEREBY PROCLAIM the establishment of the Jewish State in palestine, to be called Medinath Yisrael ( the State of Israel ).

( blah blah blah ) ( yes i did read the whole thing, very long )

-----

UN plans to divided Palestine into Israel and Palestian state, but Israel went ahead and occupies Palestians territories for well over many decades.
UN made really harsh resolution against Israel, but United States veto them all..... and the world wonders why Arabs hates Americans...
oh snap, makes sense?

so yea, thus

please don't post a view fueled by prejudice and ignorance... ScottyP your blatant racists remarks against Arabs litters all over the forums. It makes you look really stupid.

Moondancer, i don't know where or how your sense of logic, interpretation of facts, and analytical thinking comes
from or works.. but you need to study more if you even want to tackle a complex subject. You can't just read a few web site and proclaim you are right in whatever your point is just cause you think you feel right.

You need to actually looks at the documents and treaties than simply looking at maps and some brief summary.
