Why? That's Herbie Hancock! You wouldn't even be touching a synth if it wasn't for pioneers like him...and Thomas Dolby? These guys paved the fucking road for some of us...

I think he's refering to Thomas Dolby. That thing he's "playing" is a drum machine.
I'm feeling confused right now..

That 'drum machine' he's playing is being used to control a sampler, because back in those days, you needed two men to lift a Fairlight or an Emu. You can do a whole lot with this kind of gear, you know.
I'm feeling your ( y ) right now..

geez man, have you ever played on a 606?

the only kind of external control you can do with a 606 is to send a trigger out with the hi/low toms using 1/8 cable....

its not even cv/gate..its just a trigger....

there is no way in hell he is controlling a sampler with that, and look at the way he is playing on it, the key on the 606 are pretty hard to push..and are only on/off tact switch, you cant play like a keybord on it...
I'm feeling hangover right now..

Not to mention that what he's doing doesn't really match what's being played.
I'm feeling like launching right now..

Well, his sampler could potentially have had a pulse trigger... he's not playing notes, he's just advancing a loop indicator. Who knows?
I'm feeling your ( y ) right now..
