It's the Fire department that usually forbids the grouping of people in spaces due to Fire hazards and lack of Fire Escapes, sometimes it's because Alcohol is being served illegally to minors, having minors in the space, and if that doesn't do it well, 50 plus rolling 'n' tokin' minors should. And noise is definately a key factor...2 to 3 complaints should get a party shut down...and they'll find a reason, you should know this. |

It is illegal if you sell tickets or call it a "rave". Raves are illegal and charging people for entrance without paying taxes on the ticket price is especially illegal. You have to call it a "private party" and make sure they don't find out if anyone payed to get in(or for anything else you don't have a license for/aren't paying taxes on). |

Than if they still want to stop the party the only thing they can do is claim their was a noise complaint(easy) or find a fire hazard(pretty easy). Example of fire hazard : broken lightbulb. |

could they invent a noise complain that isn't real? (i mean... it is obviously not correct to do so... but the police is obviously on a war against our parties and stuff... i suspect the noise complain for ix was not real, since no one is supposed to be living in those lofts.) |

they always can find people willing to testify that there's too much noise for them |

Also try to avoid fire arms selling, planing terrorist attacks, make a shooting range in your rave, making illegal renovation during the rave, use of grenades and other explosives, paking your car in the rave, parking an aircraft in your rave, copy a tons of dvds in your rave, downloading child porn during the rave, making murders....
and a ton of shits like that, just stay PLUR |

you need a dance permit issued to you by the city for it to be legal...
and you then you still gotta pass fire dept. inspections... suprise inspections at the last minute are a very common occurance for legal partys too... and they can easily shut you down for something like a misplaced extention cord or ghetto decorations that are made out paper or cotton sheets that are not coated in fire retardant. and if you want booze you need a second room that can be shut down at 3:00 and an alcohol permit. there is also a slew of other laws regarding capacity and security... and then of coarse they can still always shut you down for the sheer hell of it.... |

You don't need any taxes number if you have less than ~30k$ of revenue a year as a company, you don't need to have a traxe number and pay/have a refund of taxes. Raves aren't illegal at all. Selling tickets isn't illegal at all. But if you do sell tickets, the venue itself must have all the valid permits for the kind of event you are throwing. |
