confurtably watching motha fuka CLERKS 2! :lol

THE DOOM GENERATION ,greg araki, 1995, 9.5/10

director greg araki

i really like this movie..it's like a dark tale who don't make to much sens..that's why i compare it to this genre..it's also a kind of road movie..

a following of very well esthetique construction of shot...(voir--->how to film a cigaret being light)
i like the fact that auto-derision is alot present in the story and character!

i like very much that the director have such a awfull idea of script and make a cool flik with it...you know the 6.66 $ check the name red white blue of the character...everything is so cliche.

i like the play of the actor...well for rose mcgowan it's not very complicate...like be cute, dark, sexy and you gonna have the job! she's gonna be in the new robert rodriguez and tarantino horror movie in 2007 : grind house..

but for the jordan white character played by james duval i think that he made a real cool job...that's so funny because i was watching again donni darko and i was like : the bunny guy..i already see him somewhere...

i like the cameo made by the band members of skinny puppy!cristopher knigh(the brady bunch!) is funny too as a anchorman..perry farrell(jane's addiction, porno for pyros..) is hilarious as a clerks..
margaret cho is cool too as the poor wife of the guy no-head in the store :lol have you notify that madame hollywood is in? yeah...heidi fleiss play the clerks in the liquor store..

the music is cool too.ministry, the verve, nin, apheix twin ...original music written by trent reznor, perry farrell..ect

essentiel for everyone who like modern cult movie..

SYNOPSIS :

Jordan White and Amy Blue, two troubled teens, pick up an adolescent drifter, Xavier Red. Together, the threesome embark on a sex and violence-filled journey through an America of psychos and quickiemarts.

TRAILERS [ www.imdb.com ]

*************************************

FAV QUOTES :

(one of my favorite ever)
-Jordan: I feel like a gerbil smothering in Richard Gere's butthole.

-Amy Blue: You're like a life support system for a cock!

-Amy: Look, you fucking chunky pumpkinhead! I don't know what the fuck you're talking about!

Cashier: You told me you loved me... You told me you'd never leave me...

Amy: What is this, Night of the Living Brain-dead? Wake up and smell the cappucino, geek. I don't know you, I've never fucking seen you before, I don't know who the fuck this 'Sunshine' is!

*************************************

FUN STUFF ABOUT THE MOVIE :

-cEvin Key(SKINNY PUPPY), who falls off the car, broke his arm during the shooting of this scene.

-Every time one of the characters buys something, the total comes to $6.66. The address of the first hotel they stay at is 666. Amy's combined SAT score is 666.

-Every time one of the characters uses the skull lighter, the flame is a different color; Blue when Jordan White lights it, White when Xavier Red lights it and Reddish Orange when Amy Blue lights it.

the doom generation is the second movie in araki's conceptual trilogy....check out the first one: totaly fucked up(1993) and the third one that i'm gonna watch tonight!: nowhere(1997)

The Doom Generation looks pretty darn cool.

Have you ever seen "Nowhere"?
I've seen it twice... once when I was completely drunk off my ass as a teenager, and another time on mushrooms... needless to say, I: A) Don't remeber a thing B) Didn't understand a thing.

Either way, it was directed by the same guy and it also starred James Duval. (I think) it was a cool movie.

If my memory serves me right, there was a rave -or someting- and crazy clubkid-esque costume party where people had all sorts of crazy sex adventures. Anyways, I think the director has a pretty damn good style. Orginal.

Trailer: [ videodetective.com ]

Another movie, that I realized, that James Duval acted in, is SLC PUNK!

This is fucking cool movie (and very interesting, concerning the punk mentality -especially in a ultra-conservative city)!

Synopsis: Two punks live in Salt Lake City. The film covers their all-day routine. The realism of the character-narrated movie may be discussed. One of the punks gets ill, stays in hospital for three weeks, comes out again. Three parties are covered and one concert including a fight between punks, rednecks and others.

hey Mico! i tought about our idea and i'm really welling to do it. i will try that everything is clear and structurize. i will write theory and give exemples all long the process...

like i said some words i know only in french but with the explanation i think it's not gonna be hard to understand. sometimes i will write in both language for less chance of misunderstood.

u have to understand that the theory is based on the classic cinema or cinema d'auteur and for make crazy avant-garde movie, it's better to know first the classical form.

i suggest you to try to watch in a different kind of way movies in the next weeks...i mean not a passive watching but try to see the theory in it.

i could just give to you the principal rules of screenplay but i think that is good to see everything...i'm sure you already know a lot of things but it's always good to keep it in mind!
but let me know if you prefer the fast class ! :lol

i divided the whole "class" :lol in 9 chapters.
like that we gonna see everything and it's gonna be clear.

1-the sructure of the story/les structures de recits

2-the cutting of the space/le decoupage de l'histoire

3-the visual continuity/la continuite visuelle

4-the articulation oftime/l'articulation du temps

5-fonctions of characters/fonctions des personnages

6-editing of scene/montage des scenes

7-editing of sound/montage de la bande sonore

8-editing of the movie/montage du film

9-narration and perspective/la narration et la perspective

after that the screenplay rules gonna be very clear, make sens and be easy to aply.

hope you will like it ! :)

1-STRUCTURE OF THE STORY

telling a story it's necescerly telling a transformation of a first situation in a new situation and the most important is the step between them.

the tradition had permit to see some constantes esthetiques.they make their proof for assure a bigger impact and efficacy at the story.

all movies who told a story have a initial conflict, a developement and a finale resolution.
you have 3 way for START an intrigue: 1-a quest
2-a conflict or 3-a misunderstood.

the process of the intrigue can HAPPEN in 3 way:
1-in line(lineaire) 2-in parallel or 3-by rebound

also 3 way can RESOLVE the intrigue :
1-reconciliation 2- elimination of the transgressor
or 3- by the conversion of the opposant

THE DECLENCHOR(declencheur) OF THE INTRIGUE

it's represent the interest of the film. it's can be rocky balboa who practice boxe, james bond who try to find a bomb or luke skywalker who try to find the force...it's always a quest of the power by the hero convince they can own everything!

THE HAPPENING(deroulement) OF THE INTRIGUE

it's correspond at the type or genre of the movie..
if it's an adventure movie(western, policier, science fiction) the happening(deroulement) consist of punish or eliminate the transgressor(more often by violence). if it's a comedy or melo-drama, it's gonna consist generaly at reward or integrate the clumsy character(often by a wedding).

the action movies often propose a spectacular fiction(fight with terrorist or alien) and a private fiction(familiale or love).
the love story(psychologique) serve to retard the resolution of the adventure(physique) for finaly give a suplementary reward at the winer.

THE RESOLUTION OF THE INTRIGUE

it's corresponding at what it's proposing like a behavior model, at what we whant to say by the end of the movie(the sens, the message, the meaning).

different versions of same strory don't have all the same finalty/ending, it's often depend on the period that the film was made.

for exemple, in billy the kid(1930), the sherif let the hero escape in mexico...in the left handed gun(1957), the hero kill hiself while provocating a dual with an empty gun and in pat garret and billy the kid(1973), the sherif kill the hero with regrets..

each period have the endind that they deserve...(often depending on the politique situation or values of the time). the conclusion, it's also for the creator a way to take an ideologique position.

the DECLENCHOR(declencheur) and the RESOLUTION often answer each other for create a whole thing.
but the HAPPENING(deroulement) of the story is always divided in 3 step : 1-provocation,
2-evaluation and 3-reaction.

because it obligate at understand(degager) the essential step, the 5 parts structure permit some anticipation in the happening(deroulement) of the events and like that a better comprehension of the role and force rapports (role et rapports de force).
valuable for any kind of story the shema quinaire(5 parts) is the best exercise for the ideal analyse and comparaison.

EXEMPLE OF THE SHEMA QUINAIRE :

in four friends(1981), the story is about the dream of a youg girl who come from yougoslavie, danilo, in the same time happen her integration in the american society.
the mooving of the bag of the youg girl is showing in the 5 different part of the movie and corespond at the 5 steps : her teen years in chicago, her university studies, her travel in nyc, the search of her roots in pensilvanya and finaly her come back to chicago.
the image of the bag open and close the movie.

SHEMA OF THE COURANT FILMIQUE STORY :

1- the initial sequence or narratif program

it's 1 sequence of aprox. 3 scenes

first scene= the prologue
second scene= the initial situation
third scene=the dramatic knot(noeud dramatique)

2-the provocation events or knowledge acquisition
(that's the happening/deroulement of the intri-
gue)

it's 3 sequences of aprox. 3 scene each

3-the recapitulation or prise de conscience
(that is when the rebound situation happen.)

it's 1 sequence of aprox 3 or 5 scenes

4-resolution event or achievement of the performance

it's 3 sequences of aprox 3 scenes each

5-final sequence or end of the program (conclusion)

it's 1 sequence of aprox. 3 scenes

first scene=the finality(denouement)
second scene=final situation
third scene=epilogue

EXEMPLE :

in the movie one flew over the cuckoo's nest(1975),
the open sequence have 3 scenes. the prologue show that every morning mrs.ratched distribute the pils at the patients. the initial situation present the arriving of a new patient,a prisoner but who show sign of crazyness. the scene of the knot(noeud) dramatic ask the problem of the movie : mcmurphy is it really crazy or he fake for not working at the jail?

after 3 sequences where the hero have a fun time and they all finish(at the third scene) by a morale victory of mcmurphy, the spectator is in the midle of a situation rebound or a new conciousness.

in fact mcmurphy realised that the patients are free to go off the asylum.mrs ratched admit that he's not deficient and he know now that he will not go in the asylum's bakyiard anymore...following 3 sequences where they all finish(at the third scene) by a failed invasion tentative of mcmurphy.

the closing sequence have 3 scenes. the finalty(denouement) show mcmurphy who try to strangle mrs.ratched, the final situation show the victory of mrs.ratched because mcmurphy is lobotomized, so now deficient. the epilogue show that the indien make an invasion with success.

alot of screenplay theoriciens had pusched very far all the transposition of aristote principes.

like this guy syd field, he became a celebrity because of is mathematical theory(that i don't want to explain here...) all this bullshit became reciepe book and now, in the modernity, it's often sale as a logiciels like final draft, write pro. dramatica pro...

they permit you to have acess at a situation bank, a repertory of characters...it's full of shity advices..
in brief it's a formular that you fill and copy the model of the commercial efficacity.

it's always told you the same story...
the most popular shema is the "boy meets girl" :
it's also a shema quinaire(5 parts)
1-a girl meet a boy
2-he love her
3-he loose her
4-he win her heart again
5-they marry each other

you know even if they meet at the hospital or at the bortyhelo or in the army : it's gonna change fucking nothing!

that's is just sad that art become so commercial.
that's why this shema can be good for start a screenplay but it's certainly not an obligation to following it! it's a good tool for analyse movies !

*************************************

Mico ?? are you sleeping? :lol !
i know it was long but when i start on this subject i become little crazy...

this part is little boring but the next one(the cutting of space) is more interesting..for making storyboard..

Who thought anarchy would be so cool. Fed up with the system, Cecil B. Demented, wonderfully played by Stephen Dorff, leads his rag-tag gang of miscreants to make the ultimate underground film. Melanie Griffith is great as the washed up movie star, considering the parallels between her character and real life. John Waters created a film worthy of his early career, something that is both shocking and enlightening. I remember the time he went on Politically Incorrect, speaking of the ills of modern cinema and how film in general has become blasé and dull. A good film for film buffs, this is one of those movies that wants to destroy the very foundation it was built upon in the most crude and visceral way possible.

(I know i haven't, have to give that a try too.)
