SATURDAY OCTOBER 15
LA SALLE D'ATTENTE / ESPERANZA
5490 ST-LAURENT

PERMUTATIONS is an event showcasing the intersections of dub, techno and minimal
electronic music. Two djs and two live acts will smother your senses in the deep reverberations of dub and its electronic descendants.
The night will begin with a roots dub set from DJ JASMINE, followed by the minimal syncopations
of local Pertin_nce artist PIMILK.
Noise Factory and fellow Pertin_ce recording artist NAW will present his signature deconstructions of techno rhythms layered with deep ambience
and resounding basslines.
DJ CYAN will close the night with a set of classic dub-techno from labels such as basic channel and chain reaction.

ARTIST INFO
===========

NAW (noise factory records, pertin_nce)
[ naw.phoniq.net ]

Montreal native Neil Wiernik currently living in Toronto, began his explorations in electronic music making as early as 1988. Known to push the
boundaries of his musical form from designing new or manipulating existing sound making devices and software to creative uses of production environments and sound sources, naw's music is a blend of sound manipulation/design, experimental
musics and dub-tech rhythms, which on the surface sound quite simple, but incorporate a number of touches that steer this artist away from being simply another minimal techno or experimental laptop artist. He combines post-house, dubby
minimal techno, microsound and thick ambience, to create his own version of deep techno, house and other electronic laptop oriented musics. Neil has
released music on various national and international record labels, including releases
on Noise Factory, Complot, Clevermusic, Piehead, A/S Systems, Wabi and Pertin_nce.
As naw, Neil has performed extensively along side a variety of national and international artists both in and outside of Canada. In 2004 and 2005 naw will release his follow up noise factory record full length called:"green nights orange days", as well as a full length outting with Pertin_nce Records called: "terrain vague". these 2 records finds Neil at his deepest, dubbiest and experimental sounding yet. the release of these records will coincide with a series of North American and European tour dates
throughout 2005.

PIMILK (pertin_nce)

Mark Edward Goldsmith, aka Pimilk, started tinkering with music from his earliest days in his current home of Montreal. A former computer
science/mathematics major, Pimilk is no stranger to software. He has progressively expanded his digital arsenal to produce a degree of depth
of sound resulting in his first official album release, *Rants,* due for release in November 2005. Sometimes haunting, always intriguing, Pimilk's
music carries the listener on a playful journey high through a weaved mosaic of sonic soundscapes, with splurges of minimal rhythms, echoes of his
drummer past. A developing idm talent, Pimilk's free, evolving style leaves his listeners disappointed only when the piece ends, and they return to the world they had left behind.

CYAN (modular systems CKUT)

DJ, radio host and producer Cyan aka Corina MacDonald has been an active participant in Montreal’s electronic music scene since her arrival in the cityin 1996. From that time she has been involved in community radio, hosting electronic music shows on CKUT 90.3 fm. Currently she hosts
modular_systems, an electronic music magazine show focusing on local artists, djs and events. Cyan
has been active in organizing events with the [ phoniq.net ] Robo/tek and Women on Wax crews. Cyan's dj sets are layered, deep and rhythmic explorations into the intersections of techno, house and electro.

JASMINE (Women on Wax)

Jasmine's dj career began in 2001 at Trent Radio, the Trent University college radio station in Peterborough, Ontario. Her first and favorite radio show was a dub and roots reggae show, and this is what she began playing, along with hip-hop, as a dj.

Jasmine relocated to Montreal in 2004, started buying lots of breaks and jungle and more easily danceable music, and since then has been tearing up dancefloors around the city with her eclectic mixes.
Jasmine's sets are an ambitious mix of breaks, hip-hop, ragga/dancehall, jungle, grime, dubstep, house, and funk.
She's lately obsessed with anything old school, 90's hip-house, Miami Bass/booty rap sounds, and funk.

Jasmine, along with Cyan formed Women on Wax in April 2005, and is now starting a new night called Grapvine: Journeys by DJ Jasmine and Sarcastic.

She's been waiting and whining for over a year to play a dub set, so come represent!
