i am untangling mine right now.

wax sucks. crocheting makes easy instantly nice dreads. mine were not crocheted, they went through a bunch of crazy stages. they were made out of time and salt water and travelling and dancing and sun.

they are fun when going at festivals because i don't worry about my hair too much... but it's not good to sleep on wet dreads, which can be troublesome if you want shower sex at night :P

i can't wait to run my hands through my hair and remember what it feels like... it's been almost seven years :)
I'm feeling excited !!! right now..

alienzed your dreads are mighty, how long have you had them? i don't remember seeing you without dreads... are you close to 10 years now?

and it's so true about the prejudice, so many people ask me where to get drugs, or assume that i smoke weed... some prejudice is good because people notice me in a crowd, but some prejudics sucks, like the stuff with job interviews already settled with a NO when they see you enter because of the hair...

i always thought that i would not want anything to do with that kind of people who judge me by the looks anyways... and it's good, the dreads kept me away from all this world that i didn't want anything to do with, and forced me to be more creative in the way i live my life...

but i think i found out where i want to go now... and the dreads must go, just because they may not be physically keeping me from there, but i feel hesitant to go through the more corporate world with them on my head. maybe i want to be more of a chameleon now :)
I'm feeling excited !!! right now..

going on 8 years now :)
and I know what you mean Anne, I feel it too...
part me of me wants to deal with people that won't mind my hair, but the bigger part of me wants to be able to deal with anyone regardless of what they think. It's always a better goal to win the game by following the rules... when you break the rules, the 'win' isn't really a 'win' at all.

besides, physical appearance matters a lot in the real world... People who say stuff like "fight the man/society" obviously don't realize that society is composed of every single man and woman and that the best/only way to make change for the better is to join society and to contribute something positive that will make them see the world more like the way you do...
ok way offtopic now

I've had mine for almost 9 months now and I'm loving them. (=
I put the tiniest bit of wax when I first got them, but I haven't since... it feels to gross, for me anyways hehe.
I want to dye them purple but that probably won't happen.. :/
I find dreads fucking sexy as all hell.. well nice and clean ones at least XD
I'm feeling here to stay right now..

hehe dreads are sexy on sexy people... :P
them with dreads always make me turn my head... but why is it sexy? possibly the wild aspect of them.. i do associate dreads with a free-spitired and/or alternative lifestyle.. people who take time to rebel against the mainstream and find out who they really are, follow their own path, etc...

first time i made dreads was a lot because i did not want to 'be like them' ;)
I'm feeling excited !!! right now..

If I had the patience/nerve to grow my hair back, I'd totally try and get dreads.
... Doubt that'll happen though, shaved head fits my low-maintenance lifestyle.

For the record though, I get peeps asking me for all kinds of drugs all the time. I kinda understood when I dressed as a candy kid, but these days...?

AND I still get beat up by neo-nazis. Mwahaha
I'm feeling chaotic! right now..

It's cuz they can smell the ginger on you love :P Totally joking btw <3
And don't you dare grow your hair back, the shaved head looks awesome and your beanie rules all ;)

As for dreads, when they're nice and clean I think they look soo pretty on women. Just never had the nerve to do it myself.

I always wanted to try the dreadlocks thing out, and I did... only lasted 13 months, for exactly all the reasons mentioned already. The first day I went to class without my dreads, shaved head, several students said it was the best thing to do (which I kinda resent). From a comfort perspective, my scalp really didn't like the dreads, I either had to wash them twice a week or not at all (for several weeks) for my scalp to be content. And to have nice dreads, and I think I had nice ones, the maintenance was just incredible... the loose hairs are never ending, constant need to crochet them. Yeah, I wore a hat or wtv, but it was hot and annoying not to have my head free.

In all, I'm glad I did it, always wanted to, but it's not for me :)) plus now pple keep telling how cute I am with short hair ;)

AleinZed's dreads are Epic hehehe, and you can tell that Yoshin's are half natural, they are sooooooooooo smoooth looking, really soft, you don't see the knots in them as much as other dreads.

In all, stick it to the man while playing by the rules :p
I'm feeling punkadelic right now..

I don't have dreads, but I think it looks great on people.. when it is well done. I see way too many people these days with fugly dreads that are not tight and look stiff and greasy. But when I see great quality dreads, I really enjoy to look at the person wearing them :) and black people dreads are so nice too!!!
I'm feeling trip pogo right now..

Rofl, the comparison of Mike VS Noah in terms of amount of hair.

I got rid of my dreads after just over a month. Found it to be bad for my job in terms of the prejudice and being new there. Now that I've been there a while though, I'm thinking of getting a certain dread style done though.

I think yeah, like a day or two after heh

I love my dreads, but I should have gotten them done just back-combed and not crotched.. From the start they were tight as hell and looked good, but now that my hair is growing out, the base of the dreads are too tight so my hair that's growing isn't dreading right..

But they're still awesome.. just need to give them a little more TLC - get rid of the fuzzies and put in the loose hairs..

Most people find that people with dreads are lazy or dirty.. and some of them, yes, are.. But a person with nice, clean dreads, I look at with more.. I dunno, confidence? Dreads and long hair aren't easy to keep looking nice, a lot more than a shaved head or short hair that just needs a little gel, if even that much work.. Long hair or dreads shows (to me) that a person is capable of being dedicated to something long-term, and does their own thing regardless of what society says is the "right" way to keep your hair. Short hair to me just implies being lazy, or not having the dedication or need to truly commit to something different.

That's also one of the main reasons I really can't stand dread-falls or fake dreads.. It's weekend-warrior bullshit.. People that want to look "cool", but don't have the dedication to walk the walk.. too worried about what their boss or parents or society will think about them and worried about other people judging them. I'd rather see shitty crusty, smelly dreads than that weekend-warrior poser shit.
I'm feeling like a drama magnet right now..

Mine too! The new grown hair is much looser than the rest of the dread.
I feel you on the need for TLC. I don't often have any spare time, and when I do I'm too lazy, my arms get sore so quickly. ugh XD
