Favourite Montreal Neighbourhood?

all this moving has got me thinking... personally i'd have to say the plateau is still my favourite, despite the influx of pesky students this fall (or autumn as us foreigners call it)... I'm currently in the vicinity of St. Denis, which is great, added bonus is that i get to practise my french, although I have to deal with my nutter of a flatmate, who snorts more coke than pablo escobar, so it's put a dampener on the experience... and today I move out to west downtown near concordia, which i'm not sure about yet, but if I don't like it, i'll be straight back to the plateau, or maybe old montreal - a loft there would be pretty sweet..

so, what's everyone's favourite neighbourhood here, and why?...

p.s. i'm sure there's probably already a thread like this here, so apologies... i am after all a newbie...
I'm feeling pretty damn good right now..

It's all about the Vdot!

Old port and Chinatown are my 2 favorite ones to hang out in.
I'm feeling sleepy right now..

My faves are Westmount/Downtown (I don't know what the actual name of the burough is, but... the area around Dawson and Concordia) and the Gay Village.
I'm feeling inept right now..

i love the plateau but its too pretentious for me...

i hated not being able to go to the fuckin' grocery store to buy toilet paper and having a dozen ppl harass me to go clubbing...

like for fuck sakes... I JUST WANNA TAKE A SHIT!!!

and ya never know what random drunk might bang on your door at 4am...

now i live on the border of n.d.g. and westmount and i love it here... (not to mention i enjoy visiting the plateau alot more when i don't live there.)

i'm close to the metro, grocerys are cheaper and so is rent...

and n.d.g. girls are nice and trashy and i like that... not to mention tons of rich westmount girls around the corner ;o)

my favorite hood is probably around concordia though...

the "g.m.c." as me and my friends call it "GUY METRO CREW"!!

I like it there cuz its so impersonal... you just kinda blend into the croud...

i wouldn't like to live in the old port unless i had a car though... its a fuckin' ghost town after 6pm and there is nowhere to buy food.

i would also NEVER EVER EVER live in the "v-dot" or verdump as i call it...

rent is practicly free but the pregnant teens and wannabe gangbangers are too much for me.

i've thought about mile end before... since its close to work and not as annoying as the plateau?
I'm feeling my giant hose beast right now..

I love my skanky skanky Village, and the Mile-End because it has peruvian rotisserie chicken.

So far for me its the plateau Aswell. I used to live in Westmount, which was really nice, but not as well suited to young adults. On the Plateau everything is nearby. No hills, so its easy to walk and bike around. Alot of the residents are young and into arts and bars. I can practice my french, and the women are hot, and they don't dress trashy like the girls downtown. I work on Peel/St-Catherine, and I wouldn't want to live around here. Also, there are so many great places to do groceries and for eating out.

I've lived everywhere. I lived on Pine near University for a while and that wasn't bad, I also lived in NDG and I really love it there, Then Westmount, which is the worst. Those people are just too much for me. Now I live in Cote des Neiges/Outremont and It's pretty good. I also think Mile end would be a good place to live.

I'd love to live in Mile End! I think the worst for me was in St-Laurent... actually, the worst is right now in Laval. But I guess that doesn't count. The only good thing about where I live in Laval is the bar down the street -the bar tender is hot and she's always giving me free drinks. Oooh yeah.
I'm feeling inept right now..

10 min west of Oxford Park. Size 650 sq.ft..rough estimate.

The actual rent is 500$ but i got it down to 200... a bit shady, a bit of a collusion, all legal. If you see me around and buy me a beer, i'll tell you how... but it is extremely hard to pull it off. The location isn't really important.

collusion and legal in the same sentence.. how oxymoronic of me.

I like NDG the best, and where I live now is not too bad (mcgill ghetto area bordering plateau... I used to live in the heart of the plateau and it was horrible. I also like st-lambert in the south shore where my dad lives.
