THE PROHIBITIONISTS ARE LYING ABOUT MARIJUANA

Citizens are learning that the lies, half-truths and propaganda that
prohibitionists have been teaching about cannabis (marijuana) are
just harmful reefer madness - and Ontario County Sheriff's Deputy
John Peck wants to know how to "reverse this troubling trend"
(Editorial: "Parents key in lowering teen marijuana use," Jan. 22)?
One of the many negative consequences of lying to teens and adults
about the plant is that it increases hard drug addiction rates. Does
Peck (and other cannabis prohibitionists) believe it's acceptable to
label cannabis a Schedule I substance alongside heroin while cocaine
and meth are only Schedule II substances?

It's commendable to keep teens from using the relatively safe,
extremely popular, God-given plant (see the first page of the Bible)
cannabis, but caging responsible adults is the wrong way to do it.
