Recording with Audacity is free and as easy as it gets: [ audacity.sourceforge.net ]

Of course you need to send your mixer output (Master or Booth, doesn't matter) towards your external sound card. If you have an internal sound card, use the "Line In" input; the "Microphone" input may work too, but the +20dB amplification can saturate your signal if you don't manage to remove it. You'll most probably need a stereo RCA, 1/4" or 1/8" cable to do that.

That's it! Try to monitor your left and right levels when recording: check the pan/balance and the saturation (red LEDS over 0dB on the mixer, height of peaks in Audacity).

You should ask your further questions here and not specifically to me ;) I'm far from being the expert for that matter.

You have a FireWire input on your computer?
I can come by and troubleshoot with ya and get you set up if youd like
(I suggest taking me up on this offer asap, cuz generally I'm a jaded muthafucker, butbthe recent weather had me in good spirits)

Figure its about time I give something back to the kids
EZ!
not available til Monday tho! And if you don't have FireWire then my audio interface will be useless for his offer, but can still help you troubleshoot your issues.
I'm feeling ez sessions monday wut! right now..

are you using ubuntu? just go into Applications, Show: All available programs, check the square for Audacity, ok to install, and you should be good to go.

though i admit, when i tried it, i also had a hard time getting it to function .. not sure why!

i usually use windows for music stuff, and record my shit on SoundForge.
I'm feeling you up right now..

shit i should have checked on this earlier, kishmay i appreciate it man =) but believe it or not guys my linux just died on me -.- can you believe that ? i can't check anything now.. i thought i had fire wire my gf knows alot more about it than i do shes a pretty big techy when it comes to that stuff but she doesnt know about the sound issue, uhhmm well i was was going to download it zombie but yeah... linux error, the whole os crashed...

i dont know what happened we were watching a movie and it crapped out so i rebooted, n now i get an error message asking me to log in in dos format with root and etc i log in and it gives me another error message.... which brings me to ANOTHER question

i went out and bought an external usb sound card for the xp os i have installed, and luckily it works but will the recording software still work with that ? or should i try and get my linux up and running ? because i'm not too sure how all of this works, i couldn't get the soundcard working even with all the different downloads so i had to resort to this im still working out a few of the bugs on this os as well..

godamn lol
I'm feeling psy psy psy! right now..

i have, you have no idea how many different ones i have downloaded, i've had 3 people try and help me on this as well, it's because i've downgraded from vista, but it's not the first time i've done it i had this problem on a similiar laptop but for some reason none of the drivers work, my other laptop i got the sound working way easier... i've scoured forums and etc trust me if it was that easy it'd have been done lol
